A recall was issued on Dec 20, 1978 for OMNI DODGE, manufactured by CHRYSLER CORPORATION, in response to WHEELS:LUGS/NUTS/BOLTS problems. THE WHEEL MOUNTING NUTS INSTALLED MAY BE INCORRECT DUE TO A SUPPLIER ERROR IN MIXING STANDARD THREAD NUTS WITH SPECIFIED METRIC THREAD NUTS PRIOR TO PLANT SHIPMENT. AS A RESULT, THE NUT THREADS MAY STRIP WHEN TIGHTENED TO THE SPECIFIED TORQUE LEVEL RANGE, WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR THE LOOSENING OF A ROAD WHEEL.. Follwoing is the summary of corrective actions taken: DEALER WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE EXISTING NUTS WITH THE PROPER METRIC THREAD NUTS, WITHOUT CHARGE TO OWNER.
