Recalls for F100 FORD, FORD MOTOR COMPANY, WHEELS, Jan 30, 1978

A recall was issued on Jan 30, 1978 for F100 FORD, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY, in response to WHEELS problems. SOME OF THE STEEL WHEELS ON THE INVOLVED VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED. THESE WHEELS, OVER A PERIOD OF TIME, COULD CRACK IN THE WHEEL RIM AREA THROUGH NORMAL OPERATION, WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.. Follwoing is the summary of corrective actions taken: DEALER WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE WHEELS ON THE INVOLVED VEHICLES.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LIGHT TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH 15X6 INCH STANDARD OR OPTIONALSTEEL STYLED WHEELS.SYSTEM: SUSPENSION; WHEELS.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: A CRACKED WHEEL COULD CAUSE RAPID LOSS OF AIR FROM THETIRE, RESULTING IN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND AN ACCIDENT.
