Pontiac Torrent Air Bags Safety Report | Oct 05, 2012

Reported on Oct 05, 2012

SHORTLY AFTER THE 5-YEAR WARRANTY ON MY 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT EXPIRED, THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE, AND THE OFF LIGHT FOR THAT AIRBAG REMAINS ILLUMINATED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE, AND YET THERE IS NO RECALL. THE CAR ONLY HAD ABOUT 40,000 MILES ON IT. IT WILL COST $725 (500 PART, 200 LABOR) TO FIX PLUS A $99 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. SO, GM MAKES A CAR WITH A DEFECTIVE SAFETY FEATURE AND THEN MAKES THE CONSUMER BEAR THE COST OF FIXING IT. *JB
