Pontiac Grand Prix Visibility Windshield Wiper/washer Safety Report | Dec 06, 1999

Reported on Dec 06, 1999

WINDSHIELD WIPERS IMPROPERLY PARKED IN A VERTICAL POSITION IN FRONT OF DRIVER AFTER TRYING TO WIPE FROST OFF WINDSHIELD. DRIVER HAD TO KEEP WIPERS IN LOWEST INTERMITTENT SETTING TO KEEP WIPERS IN A LOWER POSITION AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. CONTINUED TRYING FOR FIRST 10 MINUTES OF TRIP TO TURN WIPERS OFF, BUT STILL PARKED VERTICALLY. AT THE END OF THE 50-MILE TRIP DRIVER TURNED WIPERS OFF AND THEY PARKED IN THEIR NORMAL POSITION. PROBLEM IS POSSIBLY A RESULT OF FIRST TIME TEMPERATURE FELL BELOW 32 DEGREES THIS WINTER AND FROM SNOWFALL. *AK
