Pontiac Grand Prix Suspension Front Safety Report | Nov 17, 2000
Reported on Nov 17, 2000
A RATTLING NOISE OCCURRED IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION SYSTEM WHEN DRIVING OVER A WASHBOARD SURFACE. I RETURNED IT 5 TIMES TO THE DEALER AND THEY WORKED ON IT 5 TIMES. THEY REPLACED THE COMPLETE FRONT STRUT ASSEMBLY (THE COIL SPRING, SHOCK, STRUT BUSHING 2 OR 3 OTHER TIMES, APPLIED GREASE SEVERAL TIMES ETC). AFTER SEVERAL DAYS OR A WEEK OR SO IT WOULD START RATTLING AGAIN. THE LAST REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON JUNE 26, 2001 IN WHICH THE BOTH STRUT ASSEMBLIES WAS REPLACED. MY CONCERN IS IF THE WEAR OF THE RATTLING PARTS CAUSES A FAILURE TO SUSPENSION WHICH COULD CAUSE A WRECK. PLEASE ADVISE CONCERNING THIS . THANK YOU. *AK | |
