Pontiac Grand Prix Power Train Automatic Transmission Safety Report | Feb 28, 2008

Reported on Feb 28, 2008

I OWN A 2000 PONTIAC GRAN PRIX GT. EVERYTIME I DRIVE IT, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD . THIS ONLY CAN BE CORRECTED IF I PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (WHICH CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS) AND WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES AND RESTART THE CAR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE RPM'S STARTS TO REV UP AND DOWN CONSTANTLY WHETHER WHILE DRIVING OR SETTING WHILE IN PARK. I HAVE COME CLOSE TO SEVERAL WRECKS WHEN THIS HAPPENS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE ROADS ARE WET. BEFORE YOU KNOW IT YOU APPLY THE BREAKS ENOUGH TO SLOW DOWN FOR THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU AND THEN THE RPM REV UP AND YOU ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU IN THE REAR. I HAVE READ SEVERAL SIMILAR REPORTS AND I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS THIS CANNOT BE RECALLED TO FIX THIS. *TR
