DEFECTIVE DESIGN OF INTAKE MANIFOLD PLENUM GASKET ON 2001 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX -FOUND CRACKED/LEAKING DURING ROUTINE SERVICE. CAR HAS 52,000 MILES, REGULAR MAINTENENCE. CONDITION CAN LEAD TO COOLENT IN ENGINE & ENGINE FAILURE. REPAIR IS $650.00. THIS IS A COMMON CONDITION IN THIS ENGINE CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE DESIGN. GM USED A PLASTIC PLENUM AND GASKET THAT CANNOT TAKE THE HEAT AT THIS LOCATION. THERE ARE THOSANDS OF POSTINGS ON THE INTERNET REGARDING THIS ISSUE ACCROSS GM MODEL LINES.
