TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 PONTIAC GRAND AM. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH UPHILL WHEN THE VEHICLE INCREASED ACCELERATION WITHOUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE ENGINE RPMS BEGAN RAPIDLY INCREASED SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND PROGRESSED OVER A MATTER OF WEEKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000. | |
