Pontiac Grand Am Engine And Engine Cooling Exhaust System Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe Safety Report | Aug 20, 2003

Reported on Aug 20, 2003

I HAVE A FRIEND THAT HAS A 2001 OR 2002 PONTIAC GRAND AM GT. 2 WEEKS AGO, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER BURNED UP. THE DEALER IS TELLING HIM THAT THE PART NEEDS TO BE ORDER IN FROM THE MANUFACTURER AND IN TURN THEY NEED TO ACTUALLY BUILD HIM A NEW ONE. I AM SEARCHING FOR A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE I HAVE ANOTHER FRIEND WHO HAS A 2002 CHEVROLET S10 WHO HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. BOTH CARS HAVE LESS THAT 100 THOUSAND MILES ON THEM AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IF GM SHOULD BE COVERING THE COST OF THIS REPAIR AS IT SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *AK
