Pontiac Grand Am Engine And Engine Cooling Engine Gasoline Safety Report | Mar 21, 2001

Reported on Mar 21, 2001

CAR WOULD INTERMITTENTLY STALL AT ANY TIME OR ANY SPEED, SUCH AS ENTERING A HIGHWAY OR CROSSING AN INTERSECTION OR ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER MUCH INVESTIGATING, PROBLEM WAS DETERMINED TO BE EXCESSIVE OIL PRESSURE. VERY HIGH OIL PRESSURE CAUSES THE ENGINE VALVES TO OPERATE INCORRECTLY RESULTING IS STALLING OR RAPID POWER LOSS. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT PONTIAC WAS AWARE OF THIS COMMOM AND LATENT DEFECT BUT WOULD NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM AS A RECALL. THIS CAR WAS A NIGHTMARE TO DRIVE UNTIL THE PRESURE REGULATOR WAS REPAIRED AT MY EXPENSE.*AK
