MAZDA MPV 2000 car safety problem was reported on .MAZDA MPV 2000, manufactured by MAZDA MOTOR CORP had a problem with CHILD SEAT:HARNESS BUCKLE . seat belt buckle in 2nd row is designed so that it is forward of seat crack and cannot move to a completely upright position. this causes major movement/isecure belting of a child convertible booster seat, especially front-to-back movement. this movement occurs even with the tether anchor strap installed. we complained to mazda and wanted the seat belt buckles replaced (to match the redesigned and workable seat belts in the 2001 models) or the entire seat replaced with the 2001 seats. so far, we have had little success getting any feedback from mazda. additionally, once we began pursuing this weith mazda, threee different people within the company have informed us that no child seats of any kind are to be used in the 2nd row of the 2000 mpvs. however, they went ahead and installed a tether anchor mounting kit behind the second row (as they have done for many other customers too). doesn't that imply that you could use child seats in the second row? if you truly cannot install child seats in the 2nd row of the 2000 mpvs, then an entire year's worth of mpvs were sold under false pretenses as most minivan owners have small children and belt their car seats in the second row. also, the 2000 mpv user manual illustrates putting child seats int he 2nd row -- contradicting what we have been told repeatedly by mazda. we are very concerned that a major vehicle manufacturer can sell minivans which apparently are not designed for safe use of car seats in the 2nd row. probably many uninformed mpv owners currently have their child seats in the 2nd row. we had hoped that mazda would take a proactive stance on this issue, but what we have mostly heard is, "child seats must be installed in the 3rd row only and cannot be installed in the 2nd row." please investigate how mazda is able to sell these vehicles without first informing the consumer of this issue, and investigate mazda's unwillingness to investigate fixing this issue.*ak.Vehicle Identification Number (VIN):JM3LW28G8Y0. MAZDA MPV 2000 car safety problem was reported on Feb 19, 2012.MAZDA MPV 2000, manufactured by MAZDA MOTOR CORP had a problem with AIR BAGS . i was trying to start my "new" used mazda mpv using ether sprayed into the air filter-box through a small hole, and my driver's-side -impact airbag went off when i turned the ignition key. i was parked in my driveway at the time. i had been trying to start the car for several minutes, and had sprayed "starting fluid" into the box one other time several minutes before. this process had worked for me two times in the past with no problem. the starting fluid was sprayed through a 1/4" hole i had drilled on the upstream side of the air filter, because i was having starting problems and it is difficult to open the filter box in this car. i inspected the filter box for signs of an explosion inside, thinking that might have triggered the airbag, and it was intact; the retaining clips are not distorted, and the filter (brand new) was not displaced or damaged in any way. i do not believe this had anything to do with the deployment, but i mention it for the sake of completeness; i think that the particular sequence of key cycles i used in trying to start the car somehow triggered the airbag. *tr.Mileage was 144000 miles. MAZDA MPV 2000 car safety problem was reported on Nov 24, 2014.MAZDA MPV 2000, manufactured by Mazda Motor Corp. had a problem with AIR BAGS . i got into my car and place my seat belts on. i shifted the car in reverse gear and started reversing for 3 seconds and without any impact or collision to the car, the side airbags deployed and exploded on my whole left chest wall, arm and shoulder throwing me to the right. i was in shock and didn't realized what happen. i sought medical attention 3 times at the hospital and went to make a complaint to the mazda dealer where i purchase the car at and check a car fax report on the history of the car. there are no reported accidents on the car or airbag recall letters sent to me or on the recall list. the dealer wouldn't do anything about it and i was dissatisfied and then i called the corporate manufacturers and they would not do anything about it either because even though it's a takata airbag that particular takata airbag is not on their recall list..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 185021 miles.
