MAZDA CX-7 2008 car safety problem was reported on Mar 11, 2009.MAZDA CX-7 2008, manufactured by MAZDA MOTOR CORP had a problem with ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM . we purchased the vehicle new from a mazda dealer. from the time we purchased the vehicle i have noticed excessive carbon buildup around the exhaust openings at the rear of the vehicle. it is progressively getting worse to the point where the catalytic converters are getting red hot. the chrome exhaust tips are now discolored due to the heat. this vehicle was checked several days after purchase, where according to the mazda dealer, there were no issues. we moved, and a new mazda dealer is servicing the vehicle. today, 03-18-09 it was again checked diagnosticians with no issues. when this vehicle is driven for approximately 100 miles or more the exhaust system gets extremely hot. it is this "layman's opinion" that this engine is running very rich, "starving for air". i am concerned that this will eventually catch fire from the excessive heat generated at the catalytic converters and transmitted through the remainder of the exhaust system. MAZDA CX-7 2008 car safety problem was reported on Jan 30, 2012.MAZDA CX-7 2008, manufactured by MAZDA MOTOR CORP had a problem with POWER TRAIN . we bought this car on february 19, 2011 with around 26,000 miles on it. on january 30, 2012 (around 36,000 miles) the engine light came on and the vehicle lost all power. we took it to our mechanic to have it diagnosed and it came back that the mass air flow sensor was bad. we had that replaced, but it made no difference at all. the engine light came back on and that mechanic told us we would have to take it to a mazda dealer and that if it was anything to do with the powertrain, it should still be under warranty. we were happy to hear that indeed it was still under warranty and that mazda most likely would cover all costs. a day later the dealership called to tell us that mazda needed to see proof of maintenance on the oil changes, as there was a "sludge buildup." we had the oil changed as required, but were told that mazda may not honor the warranty after all...seems it doesn't matter if you did everything right or not, mazda seems to be denying this is a major problem. we are still waiting to hear if this will be covered, and have been doing lots of research on this issue. we wanted to get a start on this issue if it ends up being the nightmare that other owners are describing. there seems to be a major engineering flaw and we are afraid of losing everything due to the extreme repair costs associated with this problem. not to mention recurring issues that seem to arise after the repairs are made! mazda needs to stop the denial and resolve this issue asap! hopefully you can please help some hard working people who cannot afford these costs! thanks for your time... *tr.Mileage was 36000 miles. MAZDA CX-7 2008 car safety problem was reported on May 01, 2012.MAZDA CX-7 2008, manufactured by MAZDA MOTOR CORP had a problem with ENGINE . purchased vehicle used at 41,000 in mar 2012. first issue: egr valve had to be replaced at 44,000 miles in may 2012, not covered under warranty ("not a california emissions vehicle"). had 45,000 mile service performed. dealership service tech also provided service history from previous owner and verified it was serviced regularly. service tech confirmed this was a known issue with the vehicle, but it was not covered under warranty unless it was a ca emission vehicle. also not covered under aul extended warranty purchased with vehicle. cost: $750 to replace egr. second issue: dec 2012, 52,000 miles, driving for less than a mile in congested traffic at 15-20mph. vehicle began spewing white smoke out of exhaust. immediately pulled off road, called for tow truck. waited 3 hours with two children under 8... vehicle was taken to same dealership for evaluation/repair. i asked them to evaluate turbo, based on white smoke and slow driving/idle, as consistent with other known issues. was informed engine mount 3 filled with oil, which coated underside of vehicle, causing smoke. engine mount failure covered under 60,000 mile factory warranty. service technician indicated they haven't seen this issue before (however, i see it in several posts online). service technician commented i was lucky that this did not result in a more catastrophic event (fire, total engine failure). he also commented there is "a lot of stress on mount #3" and it was hard to find the replacement part. he acknowledged turbo issues, but claims my turbo is okay (for now). mazda needs to recall and fix these well known and documented engine issues (egr valve, engine mounts, turbo chargers, compressors) before there is further loss of vehicles/life. at a minimum, extend the warranty to cover beyond 60,000 miles when so many known issues exist. it will be cheaper than the class action lawsuit underway. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 44000 miles. MAZDA CX-7 2008 car safety problem was reported on Nov 01, 2013.MAZDA CX-7 2008, manufactured by MAZDA MOTOR CORP had a problem with ENGINE . sudden loss of power as the turbo stopped working. the mazda dealership claimed that the turbo broke due to sludge in the engine. there was a lot of sludge in the engine, however, the car was well maintained with regular oil changes. it seems that the median engine temperature is hotter than is appropriate for the specified oil in the owners manual. this results in oil burning and sticking to the inside of the engine. eventually a piece of "sludge" will come loose and clog the oil tube to the turbo, resulting in the turbo unit overheating and breaking. mazda seems to be aware of this problem as they were pressured to extend the warranty on this part. however, the problem is very serious and there should be a recall of the turbo unit and clarification in the owner's manual. mazda has yet to agree to fix the turbo and "sludge" in my engine. they are still insisting that i did not maintain the vehicle well. fyi- i was a car designer with honda/acura for 4 years who designed the 2009 - 2012 mdx. i am stating this because i know suv's and how to maintain them very well. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 36400 miles.
