Kia Soul 2014 Seat BeltsKia Soul 2014 Seat Belts Review #10576877 KIA SOUL 2014 car safety problem was reported on Mar 31, 2014.KIA SOUL 2014, manufactured by Kia Motors America had a problem with SEAT BELTS . as i was driving i had a sudden stop and my child was thrown from her seat as far as to the middle console from the back middle seatbelt. upon investigating why this happened i noticed that the seatbelt retention was improperly working. as you pull it out it will not retract back into the seat as designed. i was scared and hysterical because lord forbid if there was a collision my child could have been ejected from the vehicle and thrown out the front windshield. i called the dealership to see if could get it in the shop that day march 31,2014 and they were so swamped they made me an appointment for today april 2, 2014. i am so disappointed in the way this situation was handled on today the service dept. played me in saying that it was tangled within the seat. there was no such thing the seatbelt moved freely locked at some points and didn't lock at some points i have video footage to show just minutes before taking my vehicle into the dealership right in front of the dealership. this type of safety issue needs to be rectified immediately before someone gets seriously hurt. on this specific day was the only time i used the middle seatbelt. i can't stress enough as to how much i'm a stickler for safety and especially seatbelt safety that this has happened in a brand new 2014 vehicle off the showroom floor. i bought the car on around february 22, 2014 i have been seen in evergreen kia 3 times as of today since i've owned the vehicle. please don't let this complaint slip or fall into the cracks .i will follow through on all paper work filed for this and other future safety issues with the vehicle. i may be contacted at any time of day for any questions pertaining to this safety issue. this is major because seatbelts are made to enhance the safety of a life if worn properly in any vehicle. as i research kia has had a recall on the sportage and kia soul for 2011 & 2012. *tr.1 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 3980 miles. Kia Soul 2014 Structure BodyKia Soul 2014 Structure Body Review #10626163 KIA SOUL 2014 car safety problem was reported on Aug 17, 2014.KIA SOUL 2014, manufactured by Kia Motors America had a problem with STRUCTURE:BODY . we had been driving for about 20 minutes. we pulled off highway to look at a tourist attraction. no indication whatsoever that anything was wrong with the car. parked, turned car off. got out. glanced back at the car and smoke was pouring out from under the hood. soon there were flames dripping from underneath front end (looked like melting plastic). called fire department. within 1 minute flames were jumping up on interior (dash area) and exterior (under hood). got fire extinguisher from nearby business, but with hood closed, did not help. within 4 minutes entire front end and front interior were engulfed in enormous flames. many popping noises (explosions). fire department arrived after about 5 minutes and extinguished the fire. entire front end of car melted to the ground. i should note that while we left the car unlocked when we got out, the doors locked themselves during the fire, and the key fob was inoperable (lock electronics in the car were fried). had a person or pet been in the car, they would have been trapped. my husband cut his face during this, but did not seek a doctor. all personal items in the car are severely damaged by smoke. *tr.Vehicle was on fire. 0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 1000 miles. Kia Soul 2014 Fuel/propulsion SystemKia Soul 2014 Fuel/propulsion System Review #10632366 KIA SOUL 2014 car safety problem was reported on Aug 16, 2014.KIA SOUL 2014, manufactured by Kia Motors America had a problem with FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM . we were driving 75 mph. on i-75 outside dalton georgia in lots of traffic (the outer lane) at which time the vehicle lost all power and shut down. we gradually coasted to the side of the road avoiding near crashes and stopped completely. we tried restarting the vehicle and it would not start. after about 10 minutes the vehicle restarted but had no power to drive. we were towed to a dealership in dalton georgia and the service people looked at the vehicle on 8/18/2014 & said they could find nothing wrong. we proceeded on towards our destination. on 8/16/2014 (the same day they found nothing) we had traveled approximately 161 miles further south on i-75 (outside macon georgia) when the car did the same thing. it shut down driving 75 mph in major traffic. our vehicle did the same thing as it did on 8/16/2014, loss of all power. we were then towed to macon georgia kia dealership. on 8/17/2014 they informed us they were replacing a "pressure pump" and should receive it 8/18/2014. the dealership installed the pressure pump and had the technician drive it for approximately 30 miles and it shut down on him. at this point they were unsure of what to do and did multiple test on the vehicle. we were advised to leave the vehicle there and they would get it back to us. we returned to ohio in a rental vehicle on 8/22/2014. our car was transported back to ohio 9/3/2014 by the kia company with no further findings. when the dealership contacted me to let me know my vehicle was being returned and they found nothing else they stated that a 2014 kia soul on their lot did the same thing during a "test" drive. i am deathly afraid to drive this vehicle since i had my life flash before us 2 times and a 3rd time on the technician. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 3451 miles. Kia Soul 2014 Service BrakesKia Soul 2014 Service Brakes Review #10678445 KIA SOUL 2014 car safety problem was reported on Jan 13, 2015.KIA SOUL 2014, manufactured by Kia Motors America had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . i parked my car at the top of my friend's very steep driveway. i never park down it because with the electronic accelerator, i almost got stuck once not being able to give the vehicle a sufficient amount of gas to accelerate up the steep grade. i normally park off the road at the top, but decided to park facing out from the driveway. even at the top, there is a grade, but it is not ridiculous. i parked in 1st gear (manual) and put the e-brake on. my friend and i were in her walk-out basement for about 10 minutes when we heard what sounded like a door slamming shut. we went to the door and saw my car had rolled down the 200' driveway and in to her deck. the basement door is under the deck. the car was holding the deck up and the deck was keeping the car from continuing over a retaining wall and down a 30' drop. we called 911 because of the structural damage, the car and deck still making noise, not knowing how long it would hold, as well as us being trapped in the basement until it was secured. once the fire department had the wheels chocked they opened the driver side door to make sure the e-brake was on. they verified that it was, in fact, engaged. this was all put in the police report. there is over $7k damage to the car and $4k to the deck. kia inspected today and didn't find any deficiency in the e-brake. i had the sinking suspicion that nothing would be found. it may have been a mixture of events that caused the failure, but it still happened and was still a a mechanical issue that no one-year old car should have. .Vehicle was involved in a crash. 0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 15737 miles.
