JEEP PATRIOT FWD 2008 car safety problem was reported on July 05, 2009.JEEP PATRIOT FWD 2008, manufactured by CHRYSLER LLC had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . please see odi #'s 10262168 and 10268295 for history. this has been an ongoing issue for approximately 5000 miles / 4 months. vehicle intermittently stalls at various speeds, no mil or codes being stored. vehicle complaint mirrors issue listed below nhtsa campaign id number: 07v291000 nhtsa action number: pe07027 scheduled appointment for issue again approximately 1 month ago, at time of drop off vehicle was running fine. i was instructed by the service writer to try a higher quality of fuel such as chevron or shell, i had been using costco. after the 3rd fill-up of chevron fuel the vehicle began stalling again. i informed the dealer that i want to leave the vehicle for a few days to allow a tech to drive home in hopes that they witness the issue. while traveling on 07/05/09 i attempted to pass a slower vehicle on a 2 lane road, approximately 1/2 to 3/4 through passing the slower vehicle my vehicle began to stutter/stall, i had to slow abruptly and pull back into the lane behind the slower vehicle in order to avoid a head on collision with oncoming traffic. my wife refuses to drive the vehicle due to the threat of an accident. if the dealer is unable to diagnose and repair the issue on this attempt i will have to start a lemon law claim. *tr.Mileage was 14300 miles. JEEP PATRIOT FWD 2008 car safety problem was reported on Sept 15, 2009.JEEP PATRIOT FWD 2008, manufactured by CHRYSLER GROUP LLC had a problem with STRUCTURE . i have a 2008 jeep patriot, my jeep started leaking from the map light, dome light and cargo light the water ran into my a/c unit and my cd changer, gear shift, glove compartment and all over my carpet and seats, in sept. of 2009 after a heavy rain we were in a drought until then. i got the car back and the dealership said the leak was fixed, they said they had to connect the drain tubes. once i got my car back i noticed after another rain i had water standing in my tire well once again, after the last leak my car started stalling on take off. i was entering onto a very busy street and it stalled as i was pulling out and almost got hit by a dump truck. i once again took the jeep back to the dealer to have it fixed, they replaced the sun roof seal and the seals around the hatched, they said it was fixed. after another rain i noticed my jeep is leaking again, when i turned on the a/c water started coming out of the defrost vent and my carpet was wet, and a strong smell of mold coming out my vents with the air. i took it back into the dealership and told them about the leak,and the water and smell of mold coming out of my a/c vents. i looked over the car with the service manager and we noticed black mold growing in the head liner she also was able to smell the mold coming out of my a/c unit. i also noticed that my car was cutting out again while driving. i am very concerned about a fire or some other major electrical part going out due to the water leaks that have occured. i am also worried about safety issues concerning the car stalling; and am worried it is going to cause an accident or health issues due to the black mold. *tr.Mileage was 28000 miles. JEEP PATRIOT FWD 2008 car safety problem was reported on July 15, 2011.JEEP PATRIOT FWD 2008, manufactured by CHRYSLER GROUP LLC had a problem with SUSPENSION . the car was on the lift for a routine oil change when my mechanic checked the tires to see if i was having any issues with the ball joints. he has another jeep patriot in the garage with problem ball joints, that car has just slightly less miles than mine does. he then called me notifying me that ball joints were bad, one he considered dangerously bad and he would not allow me to drive the car home. he has since replaced the severely damaged one, but was unable to replace the other as there were no parts available to do so. this is the second suspension problem i have had with this car. i had to have tie rods replaced at 15000 miles ( covered by warranty). i do not use the vehicle off road and i am rigorous about keeping up with all scheduled maintenance. i spoke with the dealer and was given the run around, so i called chrysler and am waiting to hear back from them. my mechanic feels that this is something that should absolutely not have to repaired at this stage, given the mileage and the condition of the vehicle. due to this issue i have some pretty serious wear on tires i just replaced in september of last year. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 54000 miles. JEEP PATRIOT FWD 2008 car safety problem was reported on June 15, 2012.JEEP PATRIOT FWD 2008, manufactured by CHRYSLER GROUP LLC had a problem with POWER TRAIN . on thursday the 15th of june 2012, i was driving my 2008 jeep patriot. there was no hint of trouble. i stopped for a light. when the light turned green, i tried to put the jeep in first gear. the clutch pedal went straight to the floor although the gear did take sufficiently for me to move the car to safety. i called aaa and had the vehicle towed to baxter jeep chrysler, where i had purchased the vehicle in 2009. . i told them that the clutch had shown no slippage or other signs of impending failure. the current mileage was 47,000. on monday, they found that the release bearing/slave cylinder had failed and that fluid had leaked from the slave cylinder into the clutch assembly, which could not be cleaned effectively. they stated that the clutch assembly itself had to be replaced along with the slave cylinder.the cost of the repair was $1338.56. in that model year, i was told that i had a lifetime warranty on the power train. the chrysler representative claimed that the slave cylinder was not covered under the warranty because it was considered part of the clutch. i disagree. although the slave cylinder subserves the clutch assembly, it is part of the power hydraulic system and should be covered by the warranty. 1) chrysler is not honoring the original warranty. 2) there is a serious safety design issue when the hydraulic component can leak directly into the clutch, immediately destroying its function. the failure of the clutch was sudden and unpredictable. there are several posts on internet raising identical issues about the jeep design and failure to honor the service guarantee. i am respectfully requesting redress, to include refund of the cost of the repair, and an investigation of the safety of jeeps equipped with the current manual transmission. *tt.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 47000 miles. JEEP PATRIOT FWD 2008 car safety problem was reported on Jan 16, 2013.JEEP PATRIOT FWD 2008, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with SUSPENSION . wife drives a 2008 jeep patriot that has 38,955 miles on it and when taken in for oil change and vehicle inspection was told that the left lower ball joint was in need of replacement. cost would be close to $400.00 to replace that component. being frugal and wanting a second opinion we took the vehicle to another shop, reputable and very good, to have a look see. they confirmed that the ball joint was worn out and required replacement and was causing the alignment of the car to be out of specification. upon further inspection they also found that the right rear tow link was completely rusted out and missing which caused that wheel to be out of alignment and was providing a significantly bad wear situation for the tires. seems to us that after only driving this vehicle for less than 40,00 miles that these components should still be in working condition. after paying a little over $300.00 for these parts to be replaced, i am writing this wanting to know how to recoup this money. components that control the steering and suspension of a vehicle are vital to safe driving and if they fail catastrophic consequences may ensue. chrysler jeep should feel responsible and not wait on a catastrophe to occur before they do something to curb and reduce this danger. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 38955 miles.
