JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on May 30, 2012.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by CHRYSLER GROUP LLC had a problem with WHEELS . as i was driving my 2009 jeep grand cherokee on a highway at approx 70 mph my left rear tire instantly went flat immediately following a low tire pressure indicator. when i stopped my car to check the flat i noticed that the tire valve (tire pressure monitor wheel sensor) was gone. when i changed the tire i realized the pressure sensor fell into the wheel because the threaded nut that holds the sensor in place failed and broke in two causing the tire to loose all its air at once. i checked the retaining nuts on the remaining wheels to discover they were all cracked badly and could fail at any time. i later learned from the dealer that chrysler has updated the part number to a new rubber valve sensor, and the sensor i have is no longer available. chrysler knows about the problem but to my surprise has not issued a technical service bulletin or a recall. what if it had been a front tire that went flat causing an accident resulting in injury or death to myself or someone else? i've called chrysler cust assistance and am working it out with them currently. but from what i've gathered so far they don't see this as a safety issue. to me this is a huge liability issue, and an even bigger safety concern. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 50100 miles. Jeep Grand Cherokee 2009 Unknown Or Other Review #10502997

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on Mar 11, 2013.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with UNKNOWN OR OTHER . driving 2009 jeep grand cherokee on highway at 65 mph. right front tire instantly went flat preceeded by a low tire pressure indicator. auto club installed spare and noted that the tire valve (tire pressure monitor wheel sensor) was gone. tire dealer checked tire (now damaged beyond repair) and found the pressure sensor fell into the wheel because the threaded nut that holds the sensor in place failed and separated from the wheel while driving. inspection of sensor assembly showed clear evidence of severe corrosion to the threads which allowed retaining nut to separate at highway speeds. inspection by tire dealer of all other wheels showed similar condition. vehicle is regularly maintained by jeep dealer shops, driven primarily in ny state. this issue is worse than driving on low pressure tires as it occurs catastrophically. the tire pressure monitor sensor on the vehicle is 100% oem (no dissimilar metals in use). cannot believe there is no indication from manufacturer of this defect or suggested preventative actions. .Mileage was 65300 miles. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN):1J8GR48K79C. Jeep Grand Cherokee 2009 problem was reported in NISKAYUNA, NY. Vehicle was not using ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. Vehicle was not using Cruise Control. Jeep Grand Cherokee 2009 Wheels Review #10512608

JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on May 03, 2013.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with WHEELS . tire had gone flat twice for with no damage to the tire it self. with further inspection there was a crack found on the rear face of the wheel starting from the inside and working out to the tire sealing surface. there is no damage to the tire and no bend or scraps in the aluminum wheel indicating an impact. there is corrosion in the crack which would lead one to believe this to be a fatigue crack and it being in the wheel for some length of time. vehicle was inspected by dealer, photos where taken and the dealer left the decision to replace the aluminum wheel up to the regional service manager. the regional service manager denied the claim on the basis of wheels being a wear item. this was relayed via the dealership service manager. i have photos of the wheel, and the wheel itself is available for inspection. it is clear that this is not an impact crack, but instead a fatigue crack. at this point in time we are not driving the vehicle for fear the other wheels might be doing the same thing. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 44090 miles. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on Apr 20, 2013.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with STRUCTURE:BODY . both of our front door panels at the door handles are broke. this makes it difficult sometimes to get out of the vehicle without either rolling down the window and reaching out, or somebody outside of the vehicle opening the door. if we were to be in an accident where we needed to quickly exit the vehicle, we would probably be out of luck!! to make things worse, we were told that it would cost about $850 per door to fix this with the same type of door panel that has failed. it has not been re-designed or improved and who has $3400 to fix their door handles! i think this is something that jeep knows is defective and should have to recall this. these are not cheap vehicles, but obviously cheap made!! *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 60000 miles. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on June 01, 2009.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with STRUCTURE:BODY . front door handles and panels are coming apart. the plastic panel is very brittle and both handles are just hanging within the panel compartment with no support or attachment. research on this situation has shown me that this is a "very common" problem and should be addressed with a vehicle recall. the safety issue is a major concern for me and my passengers should we have the need to exit in a hurry. this raises a concern for both my children should we have a need to get out of the vehicle in an emergency. i have spoken to local jeep dealerships and they tell me that since i am the "second owner" the vehicle would be out of warranty. the vehicle is just over 20,000 miles, and being a second owner makes the car less valuable???? where is the consumer protection on these matters. the dealer wants over $2,000 to replace/repair the two front door trim panels and door handles in question. i have also checked with two trim shops in the area who tell me this is a common problem with this model, and with the compass and wrangler models. this is the result of normal wear and tear, normal everyday use. this should not be something that would break down this easily. chrysler should be held responsible for these repairs. i have never seen such shoddy materials and no compassion on the part of the manufacturer to get involved. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 20000 miles. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on Aug 04, 2013.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with WHEELS . i was driving on the garden state parkway north traveling approximately 65mph (the speed limit) and i was in the left lane of the three lane local lanes. i drifted too far to the left and hit the rumble strips on the side of the road. immediately, my tpms light came on and i pulled over right away. apparently, my tpms sensor on the tire broke and was letting air out of my tire. what happened was, the metal screw that is around the metal valve stem sheered off and nothing was holding the valve stem/tpms in place except for the air pressure inside the tire. when i ran over the rumble strip, it must have dislodged the sensor and started letting air out of my tire. i went to a tire shop and they found a broken tpms sensor and they replaced the valve stem with a standard non-tpms valve stem. my tire was undamaged and is back on the rim, so it was 100% a problem with the tpms sensor. furthermore, last year, i had a similar problem. i got a flat tire and my tpms was damaged. now, looking back, i feel that the tpms must have failed causing my flat tire. in that incident, my tire was destroyed because of the flat. i notice now that chrysler has a newer version of their tpms sensors that go on the wheel. the new version has a rubber valve stem, while the ones on my vehicle have a metal valve stem. obviously, chrysler has found an issue with the metal ones and have updates their parts. i think that this is a serious issue and even though i am ok, i can forsee this causing major problems. chrysler should have my remaining tpms sensors replace at no cost to me. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 65000 miles. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on Feb 24, 2014.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE . vehicle is equipped with the 5.7l hemi engine. upon starting the vehicle, idle was very rough, and vehicle shut off. check engine light came on. immediately, estarted the vehicle and experienced no further issue, however cel stayed illuminated. after a couple quick trips around the neighborhood the cel turned off and the vehicle ran normal. a couple days later while accelerating from a stop at a traffic light the vehicle stalled, and the cel came back on. restarted the vehicle, and it ran normal the remainder of the day, cel stayed lit for a while, but eventually turned off. approximately 4-5 days later, the vehicle stalled again while waiting at a traffic light. cel came on. i restarted the vehicle, and drove it home. i pulled the code for the cel using my odb reader, and it was a p0129 (barometric pressure out of range). i took the vehicle to the dealership, by the time i got there the cel was no longer lit. the dealership was able to find the stored code, but said that they could not reproduce the problem. they checked the map sensor, and said it was fine, but refused to take any further action since it was not exhibiting any issues aside from the stored code they found. searching the internet, i've found multiple people with the same issue on this series grand cherokee, many, as i, who are frustrated with no resolution from the manufacturer. dealer has advised me to come pick up my vehicle, without any fix or explanation as to what is causing this. this is a safety issue as the vehicle can and will stall in traffic creating a potential for a traffic collision or loss of control. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 43000 miles. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on Oct 31, 2012.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with POWER TRAIN . after receiving n23 safety recall "fix" lost use of 4wd low range (which also allegedly compromises clutch packs controlling high-range 4wd system torque/power distribution). jeep dealer diagnosed and replaced transfer case actuator. "fix" lasted 1mo. returned to dealer; trouble codes cleared. problem returned in less than 24h. this is the correspondence sent to jeep: ...i believe this to be a software issue, and my reasons are this: 1) the actuator works as designed after all codes are reset/cleared (though the duration for which this works is not consistent) 2) pulling a fuse for the fdcm is the same as "resetting/clearing" the trouble code - this does not point to the hardware as the problem. 3) if i understand the system correctly, losing functionality of this portion of the system, with my quadra-drive ii, causes a safety side-effect of compromised traction control since the clutch packs in the transfer case for awd function malfunction when the trouble code is lodged. this vehicle operated normally (albeit with risk of a roll-away when remote start is used without the parking brake) prior to the n23 recall. for it to only exhibit issues after the recall, then continue to exhibit them after replacing the transfer case actuator makes the software update highly suspect as a contributing factor, if not a root cause. i believe this issue (if it in fact compromises the traction control system) is a serious safety concern, and believe that if fca cannot find a solution quickly, i will take action. i use my jeep daily to commute on public roads, and cannot continue to afford to have it out of service or at risk of increased safety hazard. thank you in advance for your assistance... this is unacceptable and there are many others with the same issue. a recall shouldn't reduce functionality of the vehicle. period. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 86241 miles. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on Jan 28, 2014.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with POWER TRAIN . jeep shifted to neutral upon startup and rolled downhill in park. (jan. 2013) note there is a recall on this issue chrysler/jeep "n23". i had not had the recall service performed. i scheduled the recall service, which was done at bosak jeep, merrillville in, in february 2013. the service is a software update to the final drive control module (fdcm). the reason for this complaint is to state that the software update performed eliminates specific functionality from the vehicle, namely 4-wheel drive low range and neutral modes (jeep being towed/transfer case disconnect). the elimination of these functionalities is creating a "black market" of owners who are swapping out the updated fdcms with pre-updated ones; and has initiated discussion of persons "hacking" the fdcm code to regain the functionalities. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f67/n23-recall-issue-no-4-low-1561787/index168.html my vehicle, after the update, has the "service 4wd system" light upon attempts to engage 4wd low range. software fixes of hardware failure is specious engineering. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 82000 miles. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on May 20, 2014.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by Chrysler (FCA US LLC) had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . twice within the past month, my 2009 jeep grand cherokee with approximately 85,000 miles has stalled on me while driving. both times i took it to a garage; the second time i took it to a jeep dealer/service center. no codes were thrown either time and neither service person was able to duplicate the problem. it may be a coincidence, but both times this happened, i had filled my tank with gas that day. on both instances, i was able to put the car in park and restart the car with no issues. additionally, for the past few months, the car often does not start on the first try. it will start with no problems on the second attempt. dealership has replaced the win module; this did not seem to help. the throttle bottle was also replaced in case that was causing the stalling; that did not help either.i now feel as if i am risking my life and my kids' lives every time i step into the car and take it on the highway. if this stalling issue happens on a highway, we could be killed in an instant. very dangerous and the service people don't seem all that concerned...they can't pinpoint the issue so they charge me $100+ and send me on my way. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 84000 miles. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on Sept 30, 2013.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with POWER TRAIN . the following incidents occurred after performance of chrysler safety recall n23/nhtsa 13v-175. we use our 2009 grand cherokee as a towed vehicle behind our motorhome. prior to recall execution the 4wd system performed as expected by going into the "n" position when selected. since recall n23 i have experienced several instances of failure of the transfer case to shift into "n". even replacing the transfer case actuator at my expense only to incur the same situation two times again. the first occurrence, post recall, resulted in my having to pay $91.17 for a "reset" of the actuator when out of town and then i paid ($789.30) for replacement of the actuator after arriving home at my local dealership. next failure occurred after four activations when out of town resulting in a jeep dealer again performing n23. that action allowed us to return home and now after only three activations of the actuator, i find the "service 4wd sys" warning when "n" is selected. i have not contacted my dealer about this latest failure but will very soon. we simply can not have this type of condition with our vehicle. during one of the failures, the wife drove the gc and i drove the motorhome over 300 miles due to a death in the family as we did not find it convenient, at that moment, to once again attempt repairs on this car. in researching this situation on the internet, i find that there are many otherjeep owners in the same situation post n23. please verify this statement by reviewing any jeep forum as well as www.irv2.com.in some cases owners (like us) have had to pay for repairs and in other cases, dealers repaired the vehicles at no cost to the owners. it should be obvious to anyone that chrysler caused this situation despite their refusal to publicly accept responsibility. a software rewrite won't repair a cracked circuit board. please make things right.thank you..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 52488 miles. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on Mar 05, 2014.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . i purchased a used 2009 grand cherokee limited about 1 year ago. since then, i have had nothing but electrical problems with the vehicle. over the past 6 months, i have had it into the same dealership approximately 10+ times for the same reason, electrical. clearly chrysler is aware there is an issue, as they have repeatedly picked up the repair tab since i started an actual claim with chrysler customer service. i will start the vehicle up to ten times no problem, then stop somewhere come back to start vehicle again and it just wont start. chrysler customer service has dragged their feet so far, and their follow up has been poor at best. all the dealership has done is continue to re diagnose that there is a different problem each time as i the consumer continue to pay thousands for the faulty electrical, and cheap parts that have been engineered in my truck. once again, the consumer foots the bill for corporate americas shortcomings. their is definitely a problem with chryslers wireless ignition cylinder, very similar to the gm recall on ignitions if you ask me. now i have no vehicle again as i sit here waiting for chrysler to do something, completely on chryslers time clock. for what we spend on these vehicles today, the products and service provided by jeep and chrysler have made me sick to my stomach. i will never buy another jeep product in the next 30 years that i purchase vehicles due to the poor quality of parts, and the terrible follow up and service by chrysler corporation....0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 68000 miles. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on May 10, 2014.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with POWER TRAIN . while driving my car suddenly would not go into gear, i had to put my car in neutral my driving. engine light came on as well. this happened approximately three days after i had the recall done for the transfer case at champion chrysler dealership. i took it back in july and they told me i needed a new transfer case which i ended spending a 1000 to replace. picked up the car and as soon as i drove it off the same things happened. i had to shift to neutral before going into 3rd gear. took the car back to champion chrsyler again and they said it was the solenoid. i just spent another 1000 to get that fixed. they said this should definitely fix the problem. spoke to chrysler corp. on first incident and service mgr no luck. spoke to service mgr on 2nd fix and no luck. long story short getting the recall fix cost me 2000 when it suppose to be free of charge. chrysler's recall solution for the transfer case is costing consumers more out of pocket. i had never had to put my car in neutral before getting the recall done..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 102200 miles. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 car safety problem was reported on Nov 15, 2012.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009, manufactured by Chrysler (FCA US LLC) had a problem with STEERING . purchased new in 2009. the jeep grand cherokee 2009 limited 8 cylinder hemi engine started leaking power steering fluid from the power steering line with very low mileage. the mechanic back in 2012 said there was a problem with the power steering line leaking due to pressure and needed to replace it. said it could cause a fire and loss of steering so i paid the large price to fix the issue. i thought it was a one-off problem. the exact same issue happened one month ago in 2014 (exactly 2 years later) and i was curious if others are having the same issue. i did some research to find that same chrysler engine and power steering used in many 2009-2012 jeeps and dodge ram trucks are having the same issue of a power steering line failure. this is a major problem as it can cause fires and/or loss of steering. i believe there is already an investigation by the nhtsa # pe 12-020. the odi nos. 10465379, 10461736, 10459178. please advise..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 25000 miles.
