HYUNDAI TIBURON 2005 car safety problem was reported on Aug 28, 2005.HYUNDAI TIBURON 2005, manufactured by HYUNDAI MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with POWER TRAIN:CLUTCH ASSEMBLY . i am a tiburon owner and one of the many who have forked over my own cash to replace what should have been covered under warranty. i purchased my car in april 2005 new. it is the 2005 tiburon gt v6 2.7 liter 5 speed manual. i know the lawsuit states that the lawsuit is for the 2003 6 speeds but needless to say if you go to www.newtiburon.com (an internet gathering place for all tib owners) that v6 tiburons from 2003 to 2005 have had clutch problems. not every single one, but i would say the majority. at or around 10,000 miles into owning my first ever "brand new" car i noticed slow acceleration and the clutch felt loose. this was around late august or early september 2005. i immediately took it to the dealership remembering that i had "america's best warranty" and had them look at it. i was called three days later (while i was paying for a rental car to get to and from) and asked to come in to the hyundai dealership where i purchased my vehicle. upon arrival the service manager escorted me into the repair area where i saw my car in pieces and i was shown the clutch and flywheel. i was told "we have never seen a clutch this bad" and i had obviously abused my car. i explained i have driven stick cars for over 200,000 miles in my life and only once had a new clutch installed. these guys seemed like a pack of wolves in their approach which had obviously been done to other tiburon owners. they said, "well, we can fix it but it's going to be $2,100, including labor." i was told abuse isn't covered; sorry. i knew at this point i had been had and there was nothing i could do about it. i went ahead and placed the charge on my emergency credit card and they proceeded with the new parts and installation. as you may or may not know the tiburon transmissions were produced in bulk and even though my car was a 2005 i can guarantee you that some parts could possibly be from 2003 including the frame, the clutch, and other "bulk made" parts. *jb.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 9800 miles. HYUNDAI TIBURON 2005 car safety problem was reported on Aug 10, 2005.HYUNDAI TIBURON 2005, manufactured by HYUNDAI MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with POWER TRAIN:CLUTCH ASSEMBLY . i drive a 2005 hyundai tiburon v6 with a 6 speed manual transmission. after less than 25k miles my clutch started acting up by not disengaging the engine when pressing the clutch down. this happened suddenly one day when i was at a light and when it turned green i put it into first and the car lunged forward and stalled. i took it to the dealer and they told me that i needed a complete new clutch and the plate was completely worn (which it is still not worn and i now have 73k on it because i use it for a delivery car.) however, the clutch pedal is still a growing problem. as i let out the clutch in any gear it is not a smooth engagement, but a very harsh and abrupt engagement causing the car to leap at any gear with the petal almost fully to the floor. i have been pulled over 2 times at a stop light for "unnecessary acceleration" because i barked 1st gear. each time i was able to get out of it by letting the officer test drive the car in the parking lot. also for the past 20k miles i have had trouble changing gears, it has been random but has been happening more frequently, when ever i would change gears while moving with clutch fully pressed the gears have ground and i sometimes can not get the car into any gear unless i match the rpms to the correct speed for the gear. i might as well be driving with out a clutch. the worst problem: when the jumpy clutch and the non-disengagement combine in stop and go traffic or in reverse. the car will lunge forward when i only intend it to go about a foot and i have to slam the brakes on to fight the car from pulling forward with the clutch pressed down as i ripped the gear out of first... which takes a modest amount of strength. this car is not safe to drive but i have to for work. i am an easy driver on the car too, 73k miles and there is no clutch slip. *jb.Mileage was 23550 miles. HYUNDAI TIBURON 2005 car safety problem was reported on May 12, 2006.HYUNDAI TIBURON 2005, manufactured by HYUNDAI MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with POWER TRAIN:CLUTCH ASSEMBLY . i purchased a new 2005 hyundai tiburon on march 09, 2005 in cincinnati, ohio. at about 9,000 miles i noticed the car was behaving differently. by 16,000 miles even i who am not mechanical could figure out that the clutch was failing. i was amazed that this could be the case with so few miles on it, however. at this time i am living in southern california so i can safely sat that at least 2500 of those miles were accumulated on the interstate moving the car from ohio. the dealer in cathedral city, ca blamed me for the failure implying that i was not capable of driving a manual transmission. i, however, am 39 years old, have had 11 new cars since i began driving and all of them were manual transmissions. the only time i have ever needed to have a clutch assembly replaced was my previous car, a 2000 mitsubishi eclipse gt with 93,000 miles (i have that documentation). i am concerned that this is going to be a recurring issues every 10-20,000 miles at least $1000.00 each time. this should have never failed in the first place and then it certainly should have been covered by the warranty. hyundai agreed to pay 60% as a "good will" gesture. i have the extended warranty and i had never encountered a clutch that failed so early on. the other major issue are the tires which are michelin mxv4 plus. i have had every one replaced once and two replaced twice. they don't seem to be able to stay inflated. i purchased a protection plan after the third replacement but i am worried about one of the tires going flat late at night. this is all ridiculous for a new car. *jb.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 16880 miles. HYUNDAI TIBURON 2005 car safety problem was reported on Apr 23, 2005.HYUNDAI TIBURON 2005, manufactured by HYUNDAI MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with SUSPENSION . i recently took my 05 hyundai tiburon into the zimbrick hyundai dealership in madison wi for service. i am having alignment issues with my vehicle and have had them since i purchased the vehicle. i discovered from the dealership that there is a common problem with the emergency brake system which can cause the rear brakes to lock up while driving. they stated they have worked on 7 or 8 recently where they had to replace the assembly. i see no recalls or tsb's on this issue and it is a serious safety issue that should be addressed. i also am having problems with the dealership covering warranty issues. there are tsb's on my car related to alignment issues the dealership is not aware of or are denying exist. i continually get very poor customer service from this dealer along with the westside of madison zimbrick hyundai location. they constantly do everything they can to get themselves out of having to perform warranty services. i have a severe pull to the right as other have complained about that hyundai considers to be normal. i feel that it is severe enough to where it creates an unsafe driving condition and could potentially cause an accident. i also have abnormal tire wear causing every set of tires i have bought for the car to only last approximately 15,000 miles. all of these issues are related to alignment problems. hyundai refuses to even look at until i agree to pay for it due to hyundai only covering "adjustments" (which alignments apparently fall into) for the first 12,000 miles. so much for my 5 year 60,000 warranty. i have seen other people complain of similar defects in the tiburons and don't know what is being done about it. i also have other numerous problems that have been fixed on this vehicle ranging from electrical to paint defects. i strongly urge the nhtsa and other governing agencies to look into hyundais practices and do something to help out the consumers who are stuck with sub par quality automobiles. *nm.Mileage was 1 miles. HYUNDAI TIBURON 2005 car safety problem was reported on Sept 10, 2014.HYUNDAI TIBURON 2005, manufactured by Hyundai Motor America had a problem with POWER TRAIN . around 70,000 miles on my 2005 hyundai tiburon, my mechanic friend noticed that the problem i was needing a new clutch. we purchased a clutch kit from duralast/zoom manufactured these parts. the clutch change in a hyundai tiburon is pretty expensive and $1025 was the cheapest i was quoted. the car seemed to be running fine for three days and then all of a sudden my clutch pedal had no resistance against it while i was driving through an intersection and would only shift if i "hard shifted" the clutch or if i pressed down on the clutch pedal as hard as i could. luckily, the people driving southbound while i turned into their lane had narrowly swerved around my car. i could only imagine if their was a different vehicle coming since i just so happened to be babysitting my friends daughter that day! when i took my vehicle just up the road to the local hyundai dealer, they told me the part was "mislabeled" and in the process the clutch was placed in the car backwards. this "mislabeled" clutch in turn damaged the flywheel, master cylinder, and slave cylinder and i had to pay $3000 more to get my car fixed. auto zone and the hyundai dealer both told me to talk to the manufacturer since the part is "defective". finally, around 6 months later of constant phone calls, i get a hold of the right people through zoom manufacturing. they offered me a check for $253. when i talked to the manufacturer about this dilemma, he told me that this is all they can do and "we have honored the claim within the terms and policy with our customer." regardless of zoom manufacturing's terrible customer service, i want to just make sure that these parts are no longer sold to the population. i asked many people in their department if the part was recalled so this didn't happen to someone else and no one gave me an answer. also, my car is now at 82,000 miles and the clutch is already slipping..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 70000 miles.
