Honda Accord 1991 Latches/locks/linkages Doors LatchHonda Accord 1991 Latches/locks/linkages Doors Latch Review #736405 HONDA ACCORD 1991 car safety problem was reported on Jan 25, 2000.HONDA ACCORD 1991, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH . driver's-side door latch just failed and the door was jammed shut. this is the only case of a door latch just failing in any vehicle that i or any of my family/friends have ever owned. this cost over $700 to repair (since the door was jammed shut)and although honda has unofficial documents about the drilling (from the inside) procedure to release the jammed latch, they have no official document relating to this. when i contacted the local dealership, and subsequently the regional service manager, i was basically told "sorry, your car is past the warranty" - end of story. from the reports i have seen on this web site and in talking with a local honda mechanic, it turns out that there have been numerous failures of this type. this leads me to believe that the original door latch design is defective, since i have never owned any car (of any age) or even heard of a car (besides the accord reports i got from this web site and the local honda mechanic) where the door latch just failed. i believe that this represents a major safety hazard, since if the latch mechanism is prone to failure without any outside influence, then that mechanism will be much more likely to fail in the event of a crash, jamming the driver's side door shut and preventing easy exit from the vehicle. i believe that the honda corporation should be compelled to correct this deficiency by replacing the faulty door latch mechanisms, or at least offering to compensate those individuals who have had to spend what i believe to be an inordinate sum of money to repair a manufacturing defect. it has taken me nearly a year to get around to writing this, and i would be willing to bet that for each person who files a complaint with the nhtsa there are hundreds more who don't know about your agency or don't have the time to file a report. thank you.*ak.Vehicle Identification Number (VIN):1HGCB7252MA. Honda Accord 1991 TiresHonda Accord 1991 Tires Review #10286934 HONDA ACCORD 1991 car safety problem was reported on Oct 08, 2009.HONDA ACCORD 1991, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with TIRES . a michelin destiny 195/60/15 tire with dot # honda-f5ax-5005 failed without warning while traveling on ca-94e in san diego at approximately 65 mph. the steel belts separated from the cap piles in the left rear tire on my 1991 honda accord ex coupe causing the side wall of the tire to rupture and the tire to subsequently disintegrate. i was able to pull off the road safely and discovered that the outer side wall on the left rear tire had completely separated from the tire. no obstruction in the road was observed prior to the tire failing and the vehicle was not damaged by the tire failure. all four tires were purchased new on 07/31/2006 from discount tire company. mileage on the tires at time of failure was approximately 59,000. remaining tread was measured at 1/8". the tires had been rotated every 5000 miles and air pressure was last checked seven days prior to tire failure. subsequent inspection of the remaining three tires in daylight revealed slight cracking in the side walls of each. discount tire replaced all four tires with michelin hydroedge tires under the 80,000 mile prorated warranty from michelin, however, i was stuck footing 3/4 the cost of the replacements. the defective tires have been sent to michelin for further inspection. *tr.Mileage was 295398 miles. Honda Accord 1991 Seat BeltsHonda Accord 1991 Seat Belts Review #10295733 HONDA ACCORD 1991 car safety problem was reported on Nov 02, 2005.HONDA ACCORD 1991, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with SEAT BELTS . in november 2005, the driver side automatic seatbelt on my 1991 honda accord coupe (ex) started malfunctioning and would not retract to the driving position. there was an annoying beeping sound associated with this malfunction. the local honda dealer (in st. thomas vi) informed me that they didn't know what the problem was, and quoted 4 parts costing over $1,411.62, and they couldn't guarantee me that these replacements would work. so they disconnected the seat belt motor (under the passenger seat), manually moved the seat belt into the driving position, and also disconnected some other seat belt electronic part behind the driver seat near the handle and storage compartment of the back seat, behind a sort of panel in that area. over two years later in 2008, the driver side lap belt release button broke and fell inside the seat belt clip preventing me from locking the seat belt in place. i started researching the problem on line and found there was a voluntary honda recall for that problem. i had to fight with the dealer to get them to admit that this was a problem they should fix, and they did; but forcefully stated that the automatic seatbelt problem was not covered. in looking in their computer system, i realized that they had misrepresented that "i chose not to fix the automatic seat belt problem" in 2005. i refuted the accuracy of the statement. i was billed $26.38 and received no specific diagnosis so i demanded a quote to fix it. that's when i was told it would cost over $630 for the part and $50 or $75 for the labor. i had to insist that they give me an estimate with the part no. in checking with another dealer, i was able to buy the part for $362 (incl. s/h). i paid the labor to dealer to have it put in, and the problem was fixed. about april 2009, i started getting occasional beeps and sticking of the seatbelt again, but it would reset itself. since last week, around dec. 2, 2009, it's sticking constantly. i can't pay for this again; honda should pay. *tr.Mileage was 90000 miles. My 94 GL 1500 sends off a vibration when you let off the gas...traveling at 80-90 +mph or so it will rumble until you slow to about 60 mph ....a little scary, it makes me think its going to lock up...I had a previous 94 gl that did the same thing my 2003 Honda Accord started with replacing power steering pump then power steering hose{recall} now I have a leaking power steering rack seems all connected to me should be a recall for the rack also? Is it possbile for wheel cyclinder to be leaking after only 20,000 miles on a 2003 Civic Honda? 2005 Honda CRV - Front struts noisy over small bumps in road Since new problems have included pull to the right, grinding noise from rear diff, crack in windhshield all across the bottom of the glass from side to side no chipping just a long horizontal crack just above the dash line. Front struts make a hug the check engine light is staying on on my cbr1000rr 06. do you have to adjust the valves and fuel when you remove baffles from a 1995 honda 750 magna????
