FORD TAURUS X 2008 car safety problem was reported on Feb 01, 2010.FORD TAURUS X 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with EQUIPMENT . the drivers side floor mat on my 2008 ford taurus x, shifts/slides to the right, using the floormat latch as a pivot point. this shift in the floor mat causes the floormat to place itself in the vicinity of the accelerator pedal. when the accelerator pedal is depressed to accelerate, it gets lodged behind/underneath the drivers side floor mat, preventing the accelerator from returning to its normal position, and causes the car to accelerate out of control. ford motor company has been notified of this incident and problem via both email and phonecon. the crc at fmc informed me, the consumer, that since this was an isolated incident, no action or recall investigation would be taken. i feel this incident is a serious safety concern, having the issue happen to me on at least a half a dozen occasions. fortunately, i have a calm head and know the proper solution to resolve the issue was to place the car in neutral, which causes the engine to rev to its limiter, and slide the floormat out from under the accelerator pedal. i feel i am the exception to the norm of peoples, in that i did react appropriately others would probably not be so calm and smart in the situation. fords response to my clear safety concern is disturbing and appalling. i feel the only reason this has been an isolated incident is due to the fact that there are probably not many of these particular models out there that have the use/mileage on it,. being that it is such a new vehicle... in my opinion, this problem will occur in the future, with the resulting serious injury of another individual... i recommend someone investigate this issue.... email with fmc crc, stating case number, can be furnished upon request. *tr.Mileage was 83500 miles. FORD TAURUS X 2008 car safety problem was reported on June 21, 2010.FORD TAURUS X 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with SUSPENSION:REAR . the transmission of our 2008 ford taurus x (49k miles) went into fail-safe mode on 6/21/2010 and was immediately taken to team ford. there was also a problem with the parking brake pedal working intermittently so we asked that this problem also be fixed while the vehicle was in their shop. the service manage said that they were backed up on the transmission (8 of them - not good) and would be a while so they would take care of the parking brake first. the next day, 6/22/2010, i received a call telling me that while the vehicle was raised up on the rack to inspect the rear end, the service tech noted that there was uneven wear on the pass. side rear tire and then noticed that the bracket on the subframe attaching the lower control arm was broken (a crack that had pulled apart). i was informed that our extended warranty would not cover the broken sub-frame and bracket, a $2500 part, while my position is that this is covered as it is a "link". i then went and inspected the vehicle and noticed that there was corrosion in the crack. we have only owned the vehicle for 10 months as we bought it used from guadin ford when it had just 37,560 miles on it on 8/6/2009. it was also a ford certified used vehicle. there is no way that much corrosion could have happened to weaken the bracket in under 10 months, fail partially, and have the tire noticeable wear unevenly. we were also told that this "damage" was from "mis-use" of the vehicle. funny thing is, the bracket was the only "damage". not even scratches or scrapes, or, at the very least, a flat tire or wheel damage from a major impact that would have been necessary to break a high strength suspension part. it had to be defective and nobody either caught it or admitted catching it. there are more spots of corrosion on this part which leads me to believe that there was either defective rustproofing or completely inappropriate type of steel used to manufacture this part. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 49000 miles. FORD TAURUS X 2008 car safety problem was reported on Aug 13, 2010.FORD TAURUS X 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL . at 62k my 2008 taurus x began having "surging" issues while what was first felt at high way speeds. it almost felt as if i was driving with somebody that had the bad habit of pressing down on the gas and letting off continuously, only i knew this was not the case for it was myself driving. it was worse when the cruise control was engaged. the problem did not occur everytime driven but the frequency began to increase. one day i turned the car on and you could hear the surging in the idling and see it in the tachometer. this day i was coming to a stop with my foot on the brake and the entire car lurched forward causing me to almost rearend the car in front of me. once stopped i stepped on the gas to pull forward from the stop and the car would not go although my foot was pressed down on the gas pedal. i continued to drive the car home and while accelerating up a hill the car was waiting until about 3500 rpms to shift - almost like it was slam shifting and bucking until i got to cruising speed at the top. my car is now at the ford dealerships and has been for 3 days. i have been told it was not throwing any error codes but ford head quarters had been involved and once they placed a certain code into my car others came up. right now i am waiting for the throttle body to be replaced - or so i have been told. *tr.Ford Taurus X 2008 problem was reported in HENNIKER, NH. FORD TAURUS X 2008 car safety problem was reported on Aug 15, 2010.FORD TAURUS X 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with STEERING . power steering , intermittent dis-engagement. this was noticed by my wife in early august 2010. she said it was getting harder and harder to turn. i drove the car for a week and it became worse, (power steering fluid levels were topped off). it would work some times and then completely fail leaving only manual steering without power assist. when i drove on the freeway i could feel the system coming in and our of power, this caused a very dangerous sensation as i never knew when power steering would be active and if i had to do an accident avoidance move at high speed i would not be able to due to the lack of power steering. i read that there is a service bulletin on this problem, i brought it to the dealer and he will gladly fix it at a cost of $1400. my car has 58,800 miles on it and is out of warranty. the dealer wants $562.37 for labor, $ 562.37 for a 8g1z-3504-d steering gear, $190.43 for 8g1z-3a674-a pump, and $69.95 for an alignment. *tr.Mileage was 58953 miles. FORD TAURUS X 2008 car safety problem was reported on Sept 02, 2010.FORD TAURUS X 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with STEERING . driving for work noticed with backing in and out of driveways that steering was tight. checked power steering fluid level and it was fine thought it was just needing new tires. driving home after picking my children up from daycare and went to turn right on a curve at about 35 mph and steering very tight with "throbbing" felt in steering wheel. i did not have good control of the vehicle and needed to slam on the breaks to make the curve. took car in and was told needed new rack and pinion. car has 47,000 miles on it. called ford and they said no problem reported and not covered under warranty. now it is very hard to turn at all and raises some serious crash aversion issues as well as sometimes works fine and sometimes not at all. i am a visiting nurse and have two young boys and the cost to fix the problem is over $900 plus more if the p/s pump was also damaged. ford has tsb out (which they denied) and supposedly the new part, that cost at least $200 more than an aftermarket, has to come from ford because they know that there is a manufacture defect. they have remedied the problem with an "improvement" to their rack and pinion system at the cost of the customer. *tr.Mileage was 47000 miles. FORD TAURUS X 2008 car safety problem was reported on July 29, 2011.FORD TAURUS X 2008, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with STRUCTURE:BODY . i have had nothing but problems with this car since i purchased it in 2010 with 32,000 miles on it. i purchased it in april and by the end of the first summer of driving it began to lose all power when driving slowly i would not be able turn the wheel or anything. luckily all times it happened i was in a parking lot or at a stop sign. ford said it needed a computer update which was not covered under the warranty. i paid 66.00 for the update, it did not work my car still lose power sometimes when coasting. my car also accelerates without warning. this is very scary because this is my main vehicle and i have two small children. ford says there they haven't witnessed the issue while driving it so they can't find the problem. also with in that first year of owning this car my wrench light came on and remained on took it to the dealer and it now needed the throttle body replaced. it was still under warranty so i "only" needed to pay the 100.00 deductible. i did and it was replaced. sometimes the car will also unexpectedly grind to a halt. no idea what that is but it doesnâ??t happen frequently enough for them to witness it so they can't find the problem. to add to the list the passenger door is not sealed correctly and whenever it rains the inside of the door becomes filled with water, but thatâ??s not covered under warranty at all. and finally the paint on the hood is bubbling and chipping. the car is four years old now and no longer under the factory warranty so they won't cover it. i feel completely taken advantage of and i have no idea where to turn or what to do but i feel this car will not last the length of the loan. and i feel very unsafe driving my children in this vehicle. it makes me sick. i will never ever buy another ford. ford should step up and take responsibility before someone gets seriously injured. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 36000 miles. FORD TAURUS X 2008 car safety problem was reported on Sept 22, 2010.FORD TAURUS X 2008, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with SEATS . the driver's side outboard seat pivot (5f9z*7460593*ba) failed causing the 2nd row seat fold down/release to be inoperable. the part was removed and replaced under warranty on 22 sep 2010. on 19 may 2011 the seat again became inoperable and was repaired. method of repair was not listed on the service order. on 10 dec 2013 the seat pivot failed again. i do not have children so the seat mechanism has not be abused. the fold down feature of the seat to increase the flat cargo space has probably only been used six times since the 22 sep 2010 repair. the third row seats are used infrequently. an internet search for the defective part number revealed that other owners have experienced the same problem (also on the drivers side). my concern is that passengers in the third row seat might become trapped during an accident if the right fold down seat is obstructed by collision damage. ford issued a tsb (a letter, not a recall) on this part number but i was unable to locate a copy of it. the part was supposed to be replaced with a redesigned and/or strengthened pivot. one ford help site reported that the latch could possibly be released by pulling on the release handle while banging on the seat back for 5 minutes. i don't think that would beneficial in an accident. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 28374 miles. FORD TAURUS X 2008 car safety problem was reported on Apr 07, 2014.FORD TAURUS X 2008, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with STEERING . while backing and turning out of my driveway at speeds at or near 1 mph i noticed the steering was tight - as if the power steering no longer worked. after pulling out of the driveway and proceeding approximately 1 mile (speed limit less than 25 mph) to a stop sign, i was unable to make the left turn from a stopped position (had to back up and try again - fortunately no other cars in intersection). moments later, still at speeds of 25 mph or less, the steering became hypersensitive while going around a bend in the road, causing me to not only enter the opposite lane, but to almost do a 360 degree turn (and off the pavement). i went home and had the car towed to ford dealership. first, a failed steering rack was diagnosed, then a lower steering rod joint failure (not sure if only the latter or both since the car is still in the shop). fortunately, neither i nor anyone else was injured - but the car was not controllable. also fortunately i had purchased an extended warranty (4th time i needed it, but first safety issue). i read others have similar issues so i am reporting it. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 60200 miles. FORD TAURUS X 2008 car safety problem was reported on Oct 12, 2014.FORD TAURUS X 2008, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with POWER TRAIN . i have a 2008 ford tauras x , it jerks intermittently, but there is never a specific speed - it jerks at take off, at low speeds, high speeds, there were 2 incidents and it was just for a moment that the vehicle seemed to have lost power no brake, no gas, no steering and i almost went out into traffice ( i was coming out of a parking lot). i called the dealer i bought it from because i thought it was the brakes and took it in they checked the brakes and found nothing wrong. the second "loss" of power was again in a parking lot at an incline i started rolling back and a couple of jerks the vehicle regained power, the check engine light would never come one, as the jerking kept happening and the 2 incidents of loss of power, i took it to a ford dealer and they said they will charge me $100 but if the check engine light is has not on, they will not find anything because the computer records mishaps and will inicate a record by lighting up. then my transmission clutch fell apart and had to have that replaced on 9/22/14. i thought that must have been the issue with the jerking but was going out of town yesterday 10/12/14 and accelerated to pass an 18 wheeler and my vehicle jerked really hard and continue a couple more times after that. i had to drive 65mph on a 75 mph, and not accelerate to much to fast. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Vehicle Identification Number (VIN):1FMDK07W98G. FORD TAURUS X 2008 car safety problem was reported on Sept 29, 2014.FORD TAURUS X 2008, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with POWER TRAIN . this vehicle was shifting incorrectly on a busy hwy ...from second to third. and slammed into gear eventually, extremely hard causing me to jerk the vehicle to the side. took it to the dealer they supposedly fixed it. doing the same thing took it back and they will not fix it because it will not throw a code. i got online and found several blogs about having the same issues and not throwing a code. it does all of this totally random. several people have brought up the fact of being on a major hwy or interstate and this being extremely dangerous to them or their family. someone will get hurt, this is an ongoing problem that dealers won't fix. same transmission is used in several chryslers and they are having the same troubles. this is very dangerous and the dealers , warranty company, and ford keep playing the blame game and passing the buck. this can be as big as the toyato's that kept accelerating and killed a bunch of people..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 84000 miles.
