Ford Taurus 2010 Power Train Automatic TransmissionFord Taurus 2010 Power Train Automatic Transmission Review #10342480 FORD TAURUS 2010 car safety problem was reported on July 01, 2010.FORD TAURUS 2010, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . while driving my 2010 ford taurus sho (at various speeds including highway speeds) the car will automatically shift into neutral and my "rearview camera" will turn on in what appears to be an attempt by the car to automatically shift into reverse (the camera is only supposed to turn on in reverse). to date, the dealer has been unable to determine the cause and thereby unable to fix the problem and ford has indicated they are not seeing other similar issues (not sure if this is true). this is a very serious safety issue as this often occurs during acceleration and you lose all ability to accelerate (of course) if you're in neutral. should the car somehow find a way to shift into reverse (as i said, the camera only comes on in reverse and seems to indicate to me that the car's software is trying to shift into reverse for no reason) while on the highway it could very easily result in an accident. please be aware of this matter. i have put a specific date in the approximate incident date but this has happened many times on different dates. *tr.Mileage was 9300 miles. Ford Taurus 2010 Service BrakesFord Taurus 2010 Service Brakes Review #10475806 FORD TAURUS 2010 car safety problem was reported on Dec 22, 2011.FORD TAURUS 2010, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . i noticed a brake issue in 2011 and brought my car into ford for repair. i was told there was no issue with my brakes. i brought my car to another mechanic who said the pedal was going to the floor and that there definitely was an issue. i brought the car back and they claimed there still was no issue. i called ford customer care on 12/12/12 and after days of arguing they agreed to fix the front brakes. they advised that there was no issue with the back brakes. i still had a squeak but the pedal was no longer going to the floor. i was told a squeak can be normal. last week i noticed a grinding sound coming from what appeared to again be the brakes. i have 12,000 additional miles on the car since first bringing it in. i am now told that the back brakes need a complete repair because the caliper is locked and the pads and rotors are destroyed. i asked why this wasn't fixed before and they said it was not something ford was going to cover because it was not locked at that time. i am 6000 miles over the warranty and was told that i would have to pay $560.00 for the repairs. i looked online and found a host of others complaining of the same issue and also found a service notice (tsb 10-7-2) posted by ford motor company advising how to repair "rear brake drag or rear brake noise". this bulletin was issued for vehicles (including the 2010 ford taurus) build on or before 12/14/2009 and discusses repairing calipers as is needed in my repair. i was outraged that this problem was out there but that they did not correct the problem back in december when i complained of brake issues. after calling the customer service department and speaking with a customer service supervisor ([xxx] id#[xxx]) i was told they would not cover this repair because it doesn't apply to vehicles built where mine was built or because of some other reason they could not explain. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 29650 miles. Ford Taurus 2010 EngineFord Taurus 2010 Engine Review #10488959 FORD TAURUS 2010 car safety problem was reported on Oct 22, 2012.FORD TAURUS 2010, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with ENGINE . i was driving down the interstate when the car started running real choppy and misfiring. i got the car to a safe destination. after restarting the vehicle, there was a tremendous amount of white smoke coming from the exhaust. i was able to get it to our nearest ford dealership. prior to this incident there were no check engine lights, no problems passing emissions, just no signs that anything was wrong. this is a 2 year old vehicle purchased brand new from the dealership. ford has bragged about this engine being a premier engine, top notch eco boost turbo charged and for us to have to replace it after two years of driving is insane. we have vehicles older than this 2010 taurus sho, one with 100,000(chevy 2006), another with 150, 000(honda 2004), and another with 60,000(mitsubishi 2003) that have given us no problems. ford has not lived up to their claims on this car. the dealership said that one of the cylinders had a compression of 0 and that we needed an engine replacement. they never took the engine apart, they just did a diagnostic. i called the customer service line at ford and complained immediately after finding out that we were going to need an engine. they quoted a price of $6800 to replace the engine.after providing our service records, ford offered to help us with some of the cost but we were still out of pocket almost $5000. warning to consumers, this car, even though i loved driving it, i would not recommend it to anyone! we paid close to $50,000 for this car. if you dare to risk buying this car you better get the extended warranty because you just may need it. a big disappointment. supposedly ford sent our engine to be examined closely. i hope they find out what the real problem is because i would not want anyone to have to go through what we did.we will not be buying any ford vehicles ever again!!! *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 68000 miles. Ford Taurus 2010 SteeringFord Taurus 2010 Steering Review #10505651 FORD TAURUS 2010 car safety problem was reported on Apr 06, 2013.FORD TAURUS 2010, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with STEERING . two days before the incident, the steering on the car started making a noise when the steering wheel was being turned, similar to something rubbing. we visually checked and saw nothing hung up under the car. the system on this car is an electric power steering, so there was no fluid to check either. other than the noise, the steering seemed normal except for with the steering wheel centered, there felt like the steering wheel was in a small detent. it would take just a little extra amount of pressure initially to turn the wheel. however on the 6th, i went to back the car out of the garage and the steering wheel would not turn, literally not turn with me pulling as hard as i could. after about a minute of no luck, i pulled the car straight back into the garage. at this point the steering started working somewhat, i would turn the steering wheel for what should have been a hard turn and the tire was only moving, maybe a 1/6th of a "normal". after another minute or so, it started acting like it did initially, normal turn with the noise. if the no turn or 1/6ish of a turn incidents what have occurred on a road, there would have been and accident, unquestionably. there were 4 adults who all witnessed this incident. i had the car towed to the nearest dealer on the 8th. i contacted ford and the response was pretty much parts break, pay to fix it. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 37900 miles. Ford Taurus 2010 EngineFord Taurus 2010 Engine Review #10543619 FORD TAURUS 2010 car safety problem was reported on May 14, 2013.FORD TAURUS 2010, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with ENGINE . my wife was driving the car on the highway when it stalled without warning and lost all power (including power steering). the doors also locked automatically. she was able to get the car to the side of the road safely. the car started normally a few minutes later and she drove it directly to a ford dealership in hacketstown nj. they made some (in retrospect questionable) repairs, replacing the battery and the fuel pump. when the car was picked up it stalled again leaving the dealership. we took it to another mechanic who said the fuel pump was improperly installed and fixed it. the car ran fine for another few months, but stalled again, in the exact same manner, going about 50 miles per hour. once again, after safely navigating to the shoulder the car engine started without issue. this time we took the car to manhattan ford and contacted ford customer care. ford customer care did not concede any issues with the model, and used the somewhat circular reasoning that if there were a problem the model then there would have been a recall, and because there was no recall, there was no problem. therefore, they concluded, the issue rested solely with my individual car. on the other hand, ford customer care was less enthusiastic about reporting the problem to the nhtsa. when i first reached out to them on 9/9/13 they said i did not need to report anything since ford would do it on my behalf. later, when i spoke to the ford customer care regional supervisor [xxx] on 9/11/13, she dismissed the efficacy of nhtsa, discouraging me from making a report by stating that it would not make a difference. for their part, the manhattan ford dealership seemed to have a good grasp of the situation and replaced the throttle body assembly. the dealership even discounted the repair after ford refused to cover it under the engine/powertrain warranty. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 46000 miles. Ford Taurus 2010 Service BrakesFord Taurus 2010 Service Brakes Review #10637966 FORD TAURUS 2010 car safety problem was reported on Aug 25, 2014.FORD TAURUS 2010, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES . when driving car the left rear brake would make a high pitch noise upon stopping and the brake would lock on momentarially. had brakes checked for problem and was told the pads and rotors were in good shape and did not show any signs of wear or glazing. the service tech said the calipers tested good as well. upon driving the car on another night for about 10 miles, the brakes acted up again and i walked around for a visual check. noticed the left rear (drivers side) rotor was glowing red hot so i snapped a picture of it with my cell phone. the next day we scheduled a service at our local ford dealership and i was able to show them my picture. they said they were going to order a new caliper and rear brake pads and would call when they arrived. we found out that these items are on back order from ford. meanwhile, no car was made available for us to drive until the repairs can be made so we are still driving the car. my wife needs to take a business trip (400 miles each way) and we are not sure if this car is safe. we are assuming that form motor company feels it is safe to drive this car since a loaner was not not offered to us. the brake rotor gets glowing red hot and actually illuminates our driveway at night when we return from a trip into town, which is only 4 miles away. we are particually worried about fueling the car up at a gas station with red hot steel glowing around gas fumes. the heat is so intense that you can feel it from 5 feet away. after reading many different brake complaints i discovered that ford cannot keep up with brake parts which are regularly on back order. not really sure why the nhtsa has not flagged this issue yet for a safety hazard. however, we will continue to drive this car until repairs are made and hope that ford is confident that it is still safe to drive in the meantime..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 32000 miles. my 95 ford exploere engine surges when turn my air conditioner on Ihave a 1994 ford probe which has started to idle very low and stalls at times. It is a 4 cyl. w/ air and a 5 speed. any ideas? I replaced the fuel filter, air flow meter and added HEAT to gas tank to dry and clean fuel system. I think my pcv valv should a standard transmission truck start when it is in gear without the clucth engaged? should a 2005 standard transmission ford ranger start when in gear without the clutch engaged? 96 Ford F250 Emergency brake lever gets caught on the auto adjustment spring, causing brakes to be permanently engaged, also allowing the parking break lever to rub against the hub, which can cut through over time. try pushing the pedals button closer to you. you must have the pedal adjustment button to the left of the radio, looks like a foot, that brings the pedals more inward towards the driver. hope it helped. or look carefully if a wire has corroded. it i would check ur multi switch on ur stearing colum on the pedal whats the sound Just bought an '06 E-350 van.
