FORD F-250 2011 car safety problem was reported on Aug 07, 2011.FORD F-250 2011, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with POWER TRAIN . while driving downhill on a road in nh, at approximately 60 mph, my automatic transmission suddenly down shifted from 6th gear to 4th gear and then within 2 seconds then downshifted to 2nd gear causing sudden and swift reduction in speed. no engine warning lights were displayed. roads were dry and no one was immediately behind me. i brought it to the dealer and they said they downloaded the most current patches for my transmission software. about 2 weeks later (8/27/11) the same thing happened. again, going downhill about 60 mph, automatic downshift from 6th to 4th to 2nd with no warning. no engine warning lights were displayed this time either. dealer is reluctantly looking at it again, hopefully this week. they wanted to look at it next week, but i fear for my safety and the safety of my family. this strikes me as an accident waiting to happen. they said there were no bulletins for my transmission. they wanted it to happen again so i could be more specific about whether or not i was accelerating or not. i did not feel they were taking it seriously enough, so i had to escalate the service manager's decision to have it looked at more quickly. i am even more reluctant to drive it in inclement weather, even rain. *tr.Mileage was 4800 miles. FORD F-250 2011 car safety problem was reported on Sept 18, 2011.FORD F-250 2011, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL . the def tank continues to throw a check engine light warning. according to the dealer ford knows about the problem and there is no current fix to the issue. my def tank was replaced with a unit off another vehicle on the lot and was told that i could be left stranded if the light continues to stay on. san tan ford had no fix for the problem until ford release a fix and according to the service manager there are 120 people waiting for tanks. how can ford continue to sell these f250's if the def tanks are not working and leave the vehicle out of working order. this is a serious safety issue if the vehicle disables itself at anytime due to this problem! there needs to be some pressure put on ford to get these vehicles in working order and people should be made aware of this problem if they are spending over $50,000 on a new vehicle that may at anytime stop working with no fix available. need to recall asap, people all over the forums are complaining of the issue and removing these pollution equipment to have their vehicles working correctly. not good business ford! *kb.Mileage was 19578 miles. FORD F-250 2011 car safety problem was reported on May 15, 2013.FORD F-250 2011, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL . while traveling at highway speeds on the interstate the engine began to rapidly loose power. the warning light showed "reducing power". the truck quickly lost power but i was able to move it from the travel lanes as the engine completely shut down and i lost power steering and power brake functions. the truck was towed to a authorized ford dealer where it was determined that due to "contamination" in the fuel supply the fuel regulator stuck open and the engine shut down to prevent further damage. upon visual inspection by me at the dealership i examined the metal portion of the fuel regulator which had rust like corrosion on it due to moisture in the fuel. ford's position is that the moisture in the diesel fuel is "contamination" and therefore caused the problem. the system has two in line filters one of which is specifically designed to separate water from the fuel because diesel fuel has a certain moisture content in it. ford will not warranty the repair and is recommending a complete replacement of the fuel system or the remaining warranty will be voided. the repair is estimated to be in the $10,000 to $12,000 range. my understanding is that ford(as well as other automakers that use the bosch fuel systems) has many complaints related to fragility of this diesel fuel system and that it was recommended to me to file a complaint with the nhtsa. i am able to provide more specific details as required. please contact me with any questions. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 21125 miles. FORD F-250 2011 car safety problem was reported on Sept 07, 2013.FORD F-250 2011, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM . driving down a 6 lane highway in mid day traffic. had just left my house not 2 minutes earlier. light comes on says stop safely now. i start to switch lanes and the engine shuts down. i avoided a near collision and swerved into a turn lane. the truck would not even turn over. called the dealer and after i explained what happened they stated oh you have a bad exhaust sensor it shuts the vehicle down and was informed it is a regular thing. when i got to the dealership they said there is no fix or upgrade just change the sensor. they also said there is no way to know when they are going to go out. they explained when one of the four sensors goes bad it reads a high temp reading and that triggers the shut down. asked why they don't change the software to give warning when one shows hot and shut down when a minimum of 2 or 3 show hot. i mean if there are 4 sensors and one shows 2200 the others show 200 something tells me the sensors the issue. i am thankful this occurred when it did instead of a minute earlier w hen i initially pulled onto the highway in front of a dump truck. if it had happened then it would have killed me or someone else had the dump truck been forced to swerve. this is a tragedy waiting to happen. i researched it on line and see a lot of other people have experienced the same issue. please do something. this is a diesel truck. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 53900 miles. FORD F-250 2011 car safety problem was reported on Sept 07, 2013.FORD F-250 2011, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with ENGINE . driving down a 6 lane highway in mid day traffic. had just left my house not 2 minutes earlier. light comes on says stop safely now. i start to switch lanes and the engine shuts down. i avoided a near collision and swerved into a turn lane. the truck would not even turn over. called the dealer and after i explained what happened they stated oh you have a bad exhaust sensor it shuts the vehicle down and was informed it is a regular thing. when i got to the dealership they said there is no fix or upgrade just change the sensor. they also said there is no way to know when they are going to go out. they explained when one of the four sensors goes bad it reads a high temp reading and that triggers the shut down. asked why they don't change the software to give warning when one shows hot and shut down when a minimum of 2 or 3 show hot. i mean if there are 4 sensors and one shows 2200 the others show 200 something tells me the sensors the issue. i am thankful this occurred when it did instead of a minute earlier w hen i initially pulled onto the highway in front of a dump truck. if it had happened then it would have killed me or someone else had the dump truck been forced to swerve. this is a tragedy waiting to happen. i researched it on line and see a lot of other people have experienced the same issue. please do something. this is a diesel truck. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 53900 miles. FORD F-250 2011 car safety problem was reported on Nov 26, 2013.FORD F-250 2011, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with STEERING . i was traveling south on highway 99 in the central valley of california north of visalia, ca. i was maintaining my speed in the fast (second lane) lane between 65 and 70 mph on a portion of the highway that was recently laid with fresh asphalt. this of course, made the road surface very smooth although there was some transition portions of the road surface with a few rougher sections. going over one of the transitions the front end of the truck began to shake violently. i immediately attempted to slow down which was very dangerous due to the amount of traffic both behind me and to the slow lane to my right. i believe the other drives saw my situation and allowed me to pull to the slow lane to get control of the truck. once my speed was reduced to around 35 to 40 mph, the shaking stopped. the passenger who was with me was undoubtedly shaken up - no bun intended. unfortunately, this was the second time i experienced the "death wobble" that so many other ford truck owners have experienced. the first occurrence was about three months earlier while traveling on the golden state highway in bakersfield, ca. my speed at that time was 60 mph and began to shake uncontrollably after passing over a concrete to concrete transition in the road. following both events i took my truck to the local ford dealer for diagnosis. my dealer is jim burke ford, bakersfield, ca. the first time into service the dealer changed out the steering stabilize and said all other front end and steering components checked out fine. the steering stabilizer change out was funny because i had replaced the original one and installed a new bilstein brand steering stabilizer on the truck a few months prior. i have enjoyed this truck but it is beginning to scare my as i'm concerned another event could result in a serious accident. please help us ford truck owners. thank you. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 66000 miles. FORD F-250 2011 car safety problem was reported on Dec 16, 2010.FORD F-250 2011, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with SUSPENSION . driving east bound on the 91 freeway in the diamond lane i drove over a roadway imperfection. as soon as i hit it with my left front tire the vehicle made a violent motion to the left almost causing me to strike the center divider. this happened several other times before i returned the vehicle to the dealer to have it checked (12/16/2010). by this time, striking an imperfection with either front tire caused the vehicle to move laterally, left or right. after several visits to the ford dealer without remedy, a ford engineer was summoned for a test drive. we drove the vehicle to a spot i consistently have the problem and it violently pulled to the left when the front left tire hit the spot (transition road: 405 freeway to the northbound 710 freeway). both the engineer and the service manager were in the vehicle at that time and both felt what i was complaining about. later that same day i was looking at a ford fusion with my son and the ford engineer drove into the lot in a new ford super duty 4x4 that he had driven to that same location. he told me and my son that the new vehicle did the same thing and he would report back to ford so that they could do something about it. i was later contacted by the ford manager and told that my problem was within fords tolerance for the vehicle. he also told me i could probably go over to the four wheel drive parts store and purchase something that might help with the problem. i continue to have this problem but it appears to be getting worse. even my friends who drive with me complain about this issue telling me i need to do something about it. this past week i contacted ford again via their fix-it hot line and spoke with one of their representatives who looked into my complaint (he spoke with the ford manager and ford engineer). today he advised me the problem was normal for the vehicle. anyone else complaining? *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 1480 miles. FORD F-250 2011 car safety problem was reported on May 15, 2014.FORD F-250 2011, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with POWER TRAIN . driving through my neighborhood at approximately 30mph. less than a mile from my house, vehicle displays warning to stop vehicle safely. i began to turn into a driveway so that i could turn around and head back home and the vehicle shut down. my truck was now blocking the roadway and a person's driveway at the only entrance to the subdivision during the morning commute hours. i shut the truck off, and tried to re-start it, but it would not re-start. the vehicle would not shift into neutral so that i could push it out of the roadway. i had to call a tow truck to haul the vehicle to the dealership. the dealership said it was a faulty sensor. (this was the second indecent for me involving a faulty engine sensor.) i have spent more that $300 fixing sensors that should not fail. leaving me stranded in the middle of a roadway, blocking traffic. i am just thankful it was in a subdivision and not on a highway. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 65000 miles. FORD F-250 2011 car safety problem was reported on Jan 06, 2015.FORD F-250 2011, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with ENGINE . driver was piloting vehicle through turn at intersection fully loaded with salt and a snow plow. vehicle dash display read shut down vehicle safely and then immediately shut the vehicle down. truck was stranded impeding traffic for 40 minutes until a good samaritan was able to pull it back out of the intersection. vehicle was towed to dealer and exhaust temp sensor was found to be bad. the charge was $100 for the work plus the tow bill which was $113.50. this is a safety issue. i use this and another truck with the same engine (also submitted complaint for that vin) to tow and heavy haul all the time. this is not safe if it happens when traveling down hill, fully loaded and the truck shuts down. that is not safe, but in fact rather scary..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 79803 miles.
