Ford F-150 Engine Safety Report | Dec 14, 2012
Reported on Dec 14, 2012
ECOBOOST V6 3.5L. DRIVING ABOUT 3 HOURS 70-75 MPH WITH LAST HOUR IN RAIN. HAD TO PASS CARS ON TWO OCCASIONS AFTER THE RAIN. BOTH TIMES UPON ACCELERATION, CAR SHUDDERED VIOLENTLY, LOST SPEED AND ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING. BOTH TIMES HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF CAR, THEN RESTART TO GET ENGINE TO WORK. FIRST TIME ENGINE LIGHT TURNED OFF. SECOND TIME ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON SOLID UNTIL I GOT IT TO DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED THE INTERCOOLER AND CAC SHIELD. HAS NOT OCCURRED SINCE WITH 6 MONTHS DRIVING INCLUDING SEVERAL TESTS OF ACCELERATION. HOWEVER, I HAVE NOT TRIED IT IN THE RAIN, AND I'M SEEING REPORTS OF MOISTURE ACCUMULATION AS THE ISSUE. *TR | |
