Ford Excursion 2002 Service Brakes, Hydraulic AntilockFord Excursion 2002 Service Brakes, Hydraulic Antilock Review #10086758 FORD EXCURSION 2002 car safety problem was reported on May 07, 2004.FORD EXCURSION 2002, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK . after purchasing a used vehicle from internet auto sales in reno, nevada, the brakes were not working correctly. the brakes pulled the vehicle violently to the right. the dealer replaced the calipers and pads and turned the rotors and told me the problem was solved. after test driving the vehicle, the brakes had the same problem. the vehcile was sent to the local lithia dealer and they ended upreplacing the abs sensor once. after that the vehcile did not improve. so, the vehcile went back to the dealer and the dealer took the brake system apart and could not find anything wrong with it. they returned the vehicle and soon as i drove it, the brakes failed to operate correctly. they took the vehcile back and they replaced some more brake parts, but it did not solve the proble,. in fact, the problem got worse. now, the brakes are pulling both left and right. there is no rhyme or eason as to why it will pull one way or the other. the vehicle is unsafe and i have asked the dealer to purchase the vehicle back because it is a lemon, but they refuse to buy the vehicle back. my only option is to continue to take it back to the dealer and hopefully, they will replace everything so that the brakes will work correctly. this is the same problem i am having with my ford f-350 super duty.*ak.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 42700 miles. Ford Excursion 2002 Structure Body Hatchback/liftgateFord Excursion 2002 Structure Body Hatchback/liftgate Review #10093244 FORD EXCURSION 2002 car safety problem was reported on Sept 27, 2004.FORD EXCURSION 2002, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE . 2002 ford excursion. rear glass shattered and fell on the ground when our child attempted to close the rear glass and the two rear gates in the incorrect order. this is a design defect and poses a significant risk to humans should the rear glass fall onto a person while attempting to close the rear glass and gates. the defect is that the rear glass and the lower gates are designed such that if they are operated in the incorrect fashion, with the upper glass lowered first and then the lower gates attempted to be swung closed, the lower gates impinge with a very long torque arm on the glass of the upper window, and the resultant force literally causes the upper glass to shatter. the shattered "safety glass" then falls on the ground at the operator's feet, or worse, some of the small and very sharp glass fragments fly horizontally and land on the operator or occupants. in our case, a adolescent child was the operator, and luckily avoided injury. there were three other children inside the rear compartment of the vehicle, and glass showered into the compartment and onto their legs, but no injuries were sustained. the manufacturer has been contacted, but there is no recourse at this point. the manufacturer has no recall in effect. curiously, i personally know of four other such incidents in the town in which i live, and those folks also found no recourse with the ford dealer or the manufacturer.*ak.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 36200 miles. Ford Excursion 2002 Electrical System Wiring Interior/under DashFord Excursion 2002 Electrical System Wiring Interior/under Dash Review #10132548 FORD EXCURSION 2002 car safety problem was reported on Aug 11, 2005.FORD EXCURSION 2002, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:INTERIOR/UNDER DASH . the electronic controller for the over drive lock switch is shorting out in my 2002 ford excursion. i experienced a problem with the gauges turning off while i was driving around atlanta, ga with my family. the battery went dead because the fuse that controls the dash gauges blew. the alternator quit charging the battery, and the gauges quit working. i did not notice this problem until i was stopped at a red light and the engine died. i restarted the car, put it in drive and when the light turned green the engine began to stall and the transmission would not shift. take off was very sluggish. the engine ran for about 300 feet and died again so i pulled into a convenience store parking lot. i determined the battery went dead and bought another one to get me home. my wife took the car to a service center and they found the bad fuse for the dash gauges. this was about 3 months ago. the car has blown several fuses since. today the car's gauges would work intermittently. while driving the car the gauges would go one and off when i tried to set the cruise control or move the gear shifter. when i got home this evening i disassembled the plastic covers for the steering column. i found that the wire for the over drive lock out switch has insulation that has rubbed off leaving a hole. the exposed wiring is grounding out onto the shaft of the gear shift that parallels the steering column. please inform ford of the potential fire hazard, and let them know that they have to find a better way of routing wire around moving metal surfaces to prevent shorting out the wiring. *nm.Mileage was 63050 miles. Ford Excursion 2002 Electrical SystemFord Excursion 2002 Electrical System Review #10142844 FORD EXCURSION 2002 car safety problem was reported on June 21, 2003.FORD EXCURSION 2002, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . in june of 2003, a 2002 ford excursion limo suffered a fire loss under the hood. the vehicle was parked without the engine running or power switches on. it had not been used for several hours. while an employee was in the passenger area cleaning the limo, he noticed the vehicle was on fire underneath the hood. the fire originated on the left side of the engine compartment. damage to wiring and other combustibles was extensive. no cause of the fire was determined. after hearing of the cruise control deactivation switch recall, i believe the casuse of this fire could have been the switch malfunction. i know the excusions have not been included in the recall, however, since they have the same switch and operating characteristics, it is possible that the cause was a switch failure. i have also heard of another excursion in our area having a fire loss with similiar conditions. *nm.Vehicle was on fire. Ford Excursion 2002 Electrical System WiringFord Excursion 2002 Electrical System Wiring Review #10179039 FORD EXCURSION 2002 car safety problem was reported on Jan 11, 2007.FORD EXCURSION 2002, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING . kept having to replace fuse #45 on my 2002 ford excursion limited diesel 4x4. after putting into any gear, go to give it fuel it would nt do anything. researched the internet and found that there was others with ford truck 1999-2003 having same problem and read what they did to fix it. apparently in the gear shift, there are 3 very short wires that were fraying due to be pinched. so since it was not under warranty we had to have the steering box cover removed and there it was, the wires were almost completely frayed. they were fixed and another fuse was installed only to find out that the truck would not do anything. had to have it towed to a dealership and spent $600 on a new fuse box since the original one was fried due to the frayed wires. i drive 60 miles one way to work everyday and have 2 little girls and this could have caused a fire and believe me, ford would have been in big trouble. so if others are having the very same problem, why has there not been a recall. it has been noted on the internet in various public forums. compensation for me and others with an addition to a recall would be the solution and greatly appreciated before this causes deaths. *jb.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 103000 miles. Ford Excursion 2002 Service Brakes, HydraulicFord Excursion 2002 Service Brakes, Hydraulic Review #10297795 FORD EXCURSION 2002 car safety problem was reported on Dec 15, 2009.FORD EXCURSION 2002, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC . i seem to be having a braking problem with my 2002 ford excursion. i have had to replace brake pads and rotors on a number of instances. it seem to be caused by the brake caliper slide brackets which prevent the proper caliper travel when activated. this was a complaint i have addressed since my purchase of the vehicle. the problem gives the vehicle an uneven brake activation, which causes poor handling while braking. the dealer say that it is not a warranty issue. the dealer has replaced 2 calipers, but each time i'm expected to pay for pads and rotors. i'm an ex garage owner, and ex-nys vehicle inspection licensed mechanic. i have on 5-6 instances replaced pads and rotors due to this problem with the caliper slide system. each of these times, after pulling the brakes apart, and cleaning all surfaces, and lubing the sliders before reinstalling, after witch all parts worked as designed. this only seem to get you to another 2000 to 3000 miles before it is required again. in most cases costing me another set of brake pads, and also at least one new rotor. this situation has been severe on 2 occasions, while 30 miles or more from home, each time, the caliper stuck, and ground into the rotor. as i drove the vehicle, the brake pad pulled from its proper location, and fell out, leaving me with no brakes at all. this was on the rear of the vehicle. i had to be towed. i think this brake system needs to be reviewed, and don't think a brake system should need to be addressed with every 2000 miles or so. *tr.Mileage was 44285 miles. Ford Excursion 2002 Engine And Engine Cooling Review #10323553 FORD EXCURSION 2002 car safety problem was reported on Jan 25, 2010.FORD EXCURSION 2002, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING . my 2002 ford lexcursion blew out it's spark plug yesterday. you all know the story by now: corporate will not help. my local dealer will not help. and, as most of you already know, the government to this date has done nothing to help either. these kinds of things are exactly what is wrong with this country: more often than not there is no accountability for things that go wrong. i will never buy a ford again, this whole situation is breaking my heart because i really do love america and my beautiful american-made ford truck. it's a excursion, people. my point is that it was built here in america, not outside our borders like some of the other cars we buy. the manufacturer includes a numbered certificate with each lexcursion to verify that it was built by americans, in america, for americans. i am ashamed of ford, and of my govenment for letting this go on for so long. this has been happening with ford v8,v10 all trition engines spanning back 11 years, and that's just what i've found so far: i've been searching online for only about ten minutes now. when i googled the issue i didnt even put ford's name in the search box. i just typed "why do spark plugs blow out?", and it spit out a ton stuff about fords, in particular their triton 6.8 v10. how many millions of these have they installed? good people of america: they won't acknowledge the problem because to do that would cripple them. this is their version of the toyota accelerators. i even called my congressman today, left a message, which breaks my heart even more because i already know i probably won't be called back. i am a ford owner, and now i own a truck that i no longer trust or believe in, built by a company that i no longer trust or believe in. my family was with me and i was stuck on the beltway disable and anything could had happen. there are thousands and thousands of the same problem. i dont know what to do. please help. this issue keeps happening over and over and seems there is no fix. .Mileage was 120000 miles. Ford Excursion 2002 Engine And Engine Cooling EngineFord Excursion 2002 Engine And Engine Cooling Engine Review #10384087 FORD EXCURSION 2002 car safety problem was reported on Feb 21, 2011.FORD EXCURSION 2002, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE . 2002 ford triton 6.8l v10 engine in an excursion vehicle ejected an original (unchanged, factory torqued) spark plug with great force and damage in the engine compartment. coil was immediately damaged as spark plug ricocheted around the engine compartment followed by the smell of gasoline vapors and loud noise from the engine compression being directly vented from the vacated spark plug hole. the five threads of the triton spark plug hole were damaged by the force of the ejection. this should not happen with the ford engine to the customers safety given this was an original plug (at 85,000 miles). the weather at the time of the spark plug ejection was -4f, and the spark plug ejected as the vehicle was beginning to accelerate from a standstill. ford has a major and costly defect with their triton engines they sold to customers (engine replacement is estimated at $4000) and the government should enforce ford to recall and repair all spark plug holes in these aluminum engines spanning years 2000 to 2004 given they only used 5 threads in each spark plug hole, which is insufficient for an aluminum block. how is it that this widely known issue is not getting the federal government's attention given this is a demonstrated major defect and a safety issue (could have had a fire in the engine compartment if a spark from the ejected spark plug occurred). *tr.Mileage was 84800 miles. Ford Excursion 2002 Engine And Engine CoolingFord Excursion 2002 Engine And Engine Cooling Review #10407829 FORD EXCURSION 2002 car safety problem was reported on June 12, 2011.FORD EXCURSION 2002, manufactured by FORD MOTOR COMPANY had a problem with ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING . was starting from a stop to make a left turn when driver heard a loud pop. there was a sudden loss of power and some smoke. the vehicle was towed and diagnosed. the #3 plug on the right bank has blown completely out and damaged the coil pack. a phone call to the dealer yielded no help other than we can have it towed there to be repaired, as it likely needs a new head. some internet research and talking to other ford owners definitely suggest that this is a design problem with the alum heads blowing out spark plugs, and the #3 r plug seems to be common. this could cause fuel/vapors to be exhausted and sprayed on a hot manifold and cause a fire. it sounds like there may have already been some fires attributed to this problem. this sound like a case where the dealer/ford refuses to admit that it is a problem and fix it for owners. before there are serious injuries from a crash or a fire, ford should be compelled to fix this issue. its unlikely that ford will answer the call without pressure from nhtsa. there seem to be far too many of the same type of problems with this 5.4l motor for it to be a coincidence. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 110000 miles. my 95 ford exploere engine surges when turn my air conditioner on Ihave a 1994 ford probe which has started to idle very low and stalls at times. It is a 4 cyl. w/ air and a 5 speed. any ideas? I replaced the fuel filter, air flow meter and added HEAT to gas tank to dry and clean fuel system. I think my pcv valv should a standard transmission truck start when it is in gear without the clucth engaged? should a 2005 standard transmission ford ranger start when in gear without the clutch engaged? 96 Ford F250 Emergency brake lever gets caught on the auto adjustment spring, causing brakes to be permanently engaged, also allowing the parking break lever to rub against the hub, which can cut through over time. try pushing the pedals button closer to you. you must have the pedal adjustment button to the left of the radio, looks like a foot, that brings the pedals more inward towards the driver. hope it helped. or look carefully if a wire has corroded. it i would check ur multi switch on ur stearing colum on the pedal whats the sound Just bought an '06 E-350 van. If you rock the car back and for while shifting then it should release the safety lock! why does it take turning off the veh. while pulling in on the shifter arm, them starting it again while still holding it inwards ever so slightly??
