FORD 500 2005 car safety problem was reported on Sept 30, 2012.FORD 500 2005, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL . i was driving in my 2005 ford 500 with 84,000 miles on it, down a busy highway in the left lane on sept. 30, 2012, and all of a sudden my car would no longer accelerate. the speed continued to decrease and i had a car directly behind me and a car directly to the right of me, so i could not immediately pull over to the shoulder of the highway. i immediately turned on my hazard lights, but because my car slowed down so suddenly on the busy highway, the car behind me almost rear-ended me, and because there was a significant amount of traffic in both lanes, it was almost impossible to get over to the shoulder. luckily, i eventually made it to the shoulder. several warning lights came on when i finally stopped the car, and then i turned it off. i turned it on several minutes later, and the car drove normally for the rest of the way home (about 1 hour). i took it into the ford dealership and they told me i needed to replace the throttle body. they also told me that this was a common problem with this make and model of car. in the past, my vehicle has surged forward when i'm parked, when i barely lift my foot off the brake. it has done the same in reverse. i took it into a local mechanic who could not figure out the problem, and i just tried to be careful about not following other cars too closely. but i now believe that surging was related to the throttle body issues. also, about three weeks before this incident on sept. 30, my car died while stopped at a red light in a busy intersection. it was very hot that day, and i just thought the car was overheated. however, i now believe that incident is related to the throttle body issue as well. i think that this problem has resulted in extremely dangerous situations, and could have very easily caused me to get into an accident and potentially suffer injuries on multiple occasions, but especially the incident on sept. 30. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 84000 miles. FORD 500 2005 car safety problem was reported on Jan 03, 2013.FORD 500 2005, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL . while driving through parking lots at low speed, engine would die. this happened numerous times. after getting up to 40 mph it died again and again in heavy traffic. i have had the car in at the dealership every since it was purchased for different speed control issues, hesitation, surging at idle speeds, and the most recent issue. many times we were told that they could not find any problems, but the issues kept occurring. eventually we were told the hesitation problem was fixed but our mpg dropped considerably. next was the surge. in parking lots the surge was so bad with pedestrians and other cars, i had to drive with two feet. in 2010 the surge problems were fixed, only to return much worse in 2012. now the latest problem we took the car to an independent mechanic and we have been told that the throttle body must be replaced and all these issues have been related to the throttle body. while at the dealership none of these problems were recognized by the onboard computer. all these problems have resulted in extremely dangerous situations; hesitation while merging in traffic, surging while driving with pedestrians, and dying in heavy traffic. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 118000 miles. FORD 500 2005 car safety problem was reported on Apr 09, 2013.FORD 500 2005, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with POWER TRAIN . i was driving at the approx. speed of 58mph and my car starting skipping and chugging. i slowed down and as i begun to slow down my car gave me a diagnosis code of failsafe engine mode, then my car completely shut down with no power at all. it was hard to pull off the rode and steer the car off the road because the steering wheel tightened up. i pulled over and let the car sit for a few minutes and then tried re-cranking the car. i was able to re-crank the car and drove further up the rode. i continued to have these problems. i drove approx. 10 miles from the first indication that happened and the car continued to cut off and give me the same error message approx 4 more times before i was able to get home with the car. i let the car cool for an hour or so and immediately took the car to a local mechanic. they have replaced the entire coal pack, all 6 spark plugs, and replaced the manifest. i picked my car up once repaired at the local mechanic and got approx. 6 miles from the shop and it cut off and did the same thing over again. i am not able to drive my car at all without it giving me the error message and cutting off. i have read alot of forums and blogs and others are having these same issues that i am having. has there been a recall for these issues for this model? i have a ford 500 v6 limited addition. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 151385 miles. FORD 500 2005 car safety problem was reported on May 13, 2009.FORD 500 2005, manufactured by Ford Motor Company had a problem with POWER TRAIN . the transmission on this vehicle ford 500 2005 does not shift properly. as i was driving and trying to switch lanes on 35w in minneapolis the transmission just jerked and no able to go to a higher speed an accelerate accordingly causing vehicle behind mine to almost hit meat aproxi.65-70 miles . the driver was able to avoid hitting me from behind. we were lucky that did not occur other ways it could have created a pile up on the freeway. i have reported this situation to ford dealers but no available response.later on i went to a private car service in my town of mn and was explained that ford knows about this problem,it appears that the transmission housing bends up with increased temperature and causes this failure. i have noticed that this situation does not occur during winter months. it is a safety concern and ford has not responded to this issue, i purchased this vehicle 4 -5 years ago, but not wanting to sell it to avoid someone else to have an accident specifically if children are involved. the repair is expensive and i have driven other ford and mercury of about same years and find out exact problems. ford should be responsible and pay or help pay for the cost of fixing please help solve this situation. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 124009 miles.
