DODGE SRT-4 2005 car safety problem was reported on June 21, 2005.DODGE SRT-4 2005, manufactured by DAIMLERCHRYSLER CORPORATION had a problem with TIRES . i was driving home from work when the front right tire appeared to blowout causing the car to skid in the curb. my husband came and put the little spare on and i was to take it a dodge dealer the next morning for them to inspect the tire for abnormalities, etc. about a half block from the original blowout the car suddenly swerved into the center lane and the front end appeared to drop and i gained control of the car and got it to the right lane and the car stopped without me putting it in park. i then put it in park and got out to see what it was and found that the spare tire had broken off the axel and was pushed into the wheel well and the front end of the car was actually sitting on the ground with all the fluids draining out into the street. i heard and felt a loud crunch sound thinking someone had either hit me or i hit somebody else. unfortunately, that was not the case. i had the car towed and it will arrive at the dealership in the morning for them to assess the damage to the engine, transmission, frame and and wheel axels. i have had no other complaint with my car except for the radio/cd player which was replaced with a new player.....the radio however is still not working right. i was not hurt during either incident, but, i do believe seeing the damage to the car was some kind of defect in order to create that sort of damage. i would appreciate any help that someone may be able to offer or at least investigate the car. thank you very much for timely attention into this matter..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 9400 miles. DODGE SRT-4 2005 car safety problem was reported on July 22, 2009.DODGE SRT-4 2005, manufactured by CHRYSLER LLC had a problem with POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION . our 2005 neon srt/4 is a high performance car with a manual transmission. they made 8,000 in 2005. 5,000 cars came equipped with the t-304 manual transmission. the third gear in this transmission locked up while driving in traffic. the car revved to 8,000rpm and stalled, breaking parts. a definite safety issue. online, ( i'll include the info) out of 1,544 2005 srt/4 owners polled, 1,195 had issues with this 3rd gear. they included: it does not go into gear first try, it goes but grinds( damages clutch), it tries to kick out of gear, it grinds under wot shifting, can't shift into 3rd when wot(wide open throttle). it appears all these transmission are defective & dangerous to the public. i was a former tool engineer for gm truck steering, etc., for american axle. i asked for my old parts from the $2,200.00 repair when i picked up our car on 7/29/09. upon examining the broken /damaged parts, the forks appeared to be made of a soft brass! the northtown dodge service manager& mechanic mentioned that the replacement parts had been upgraded( the bearings and forks). when i asked if it was steel replacement parts they would not answer. i then explained to them that dodge would not spend $100,000's to upgrade parts for no reason. i got no where. when i called dodge, some idiots in india answered the phone. these are defective parts that should be recalled. my son had taken the car to transitown dodge about 3 months before to have this problem checked, and they could not find anything. *tr.Mileage was 68000 miles.
