DODGE CHALLENGER 2011 car safety problem was reported on Feb 16, 2012.DODGE CHALLENGER 2011, manufactured by CHRYSLER GROUP LLC had a problem with AIR BAGS . the airbag light comes on and the airbag will not deploy were an accident to happen. it is the driver side front deploy airbag. this can be turned off by wiggling a wire and connector under the rear of the driver's seat. the light and disabling of the airbag happen at random times and any time you increase speed quickly (ie. freeway on ramps). this is again remedied by a giggling the wires and connector behind and under the driver. i can disable the airbag anytime by wiggling the wire under the seat, if driving prior to the indicator coming on. i will take the vehicle to the dealership although several other owners have been unsuccessful in their many attempts. the problem is also being reported on line by owners of new 2012 models. *tr.Mileage was 6581 miles. DODGE CHALLENGER 2011 car safety problem was reported on July 12, 2012.DODGE CHALLENGER 2011, manufactured by CHRYSLER GROUP LLC had a problem with SEAT BELTS . on july 12, 2012 while detailing the inside of my car in order to reach some areas that i could not reach through the trunk i was pushed the front seats forward so the rear seats would drop down by design and was in an odd position to start with, and had the seat belts on the driver side rear pushed out of the way. while working on the detailing they slipped and managed to wrap me up around my chest and neck (it happened so fast i could not get out of the way). as i struggled to free myself they refused to relax and continued to tighten up no matter how much (what little slack i had to give) so that i could pull them back out. i reported this very same problem but not to the same level with my 2007 dodge ram front belts, and dodge did not take action. in order to free myself i had to use a pocket knife that i had in my pocket that after some slight relaxing i was able to reach to cut the belts and free myself. chrysler has refused to address this, and denied my warranty because i cut the seat belts to free myself. i fail to understand this logic as it was my only choice to get out of the vehicle. this is nothing new to dodge and has been discussed on numerous chrysler product related forums on the internet, all of which when they were contacted they refused to act on the matters. a seat belt should only lockup when a hard forward motion stop is made, not in a stationary setting as it did in my challenger trapping me. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 8000 miles. DODGE CHALLENGER 2011 car safety problem was reported on Oct 15, 2011.DODGE CHALLENGER 2011, manufactured by CHRYSLER GROUP LLC had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . started at about two to three months while stopped to make turn, the computer reset. it noted tire pressure low and air bag light. this computer problem has happened at least six to eight times. also, at least six to eight times, the car will not detect key fob and this has happened numerous times after new batteries in key fobs with new batteries. car also died while stopped at light and when re-started it only had half the power. i 'limped' it home to avoid getting stranded. when re-started it was alright, but i continue to have computer and electrical problems. after the car stalled, it would flash the lights numerous times when the key fob was near the car in my pocket of sweat pants with nothing else in my pocket and nothing pushing the key fob. problems increasing over time and i noticed challenger had numerous complaints for key fob and electrical problems. i just took the car in for a recall regarding the outside door sensor keyless entry. car has been to dealer about three times for these electrical related problems. the first time they re-set the computer. the second time the dealer could not replicate the 'key fob not detected' issue. this time it had the keyless entry problem and the dealer refused to even write down that the car stalled in traffic which was on a state highway. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 5000 miles. DODGE CHALLENGER 2011 car safety problem was reported on Apr 24, 2013.DODGE CHALLENGER 2011, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with POWER TRAIN . i bought my 2011 challenger srt 8 used with just over 13,000 miles. i did a vin check and found no issues with this car. i took the car to a dealership because i didn't think the rear end sounded right. the dealership installed rear axle dampeners under tsb 01-005-12. the dealership had my car for 30 days and when i got the car back it sounded about the same. i call the dealership and was told that the warranty on my vehicle was voided. the month before there was no issues with the warranty. i called chrysler customer care and they had a hard time finding out why there was a warranty issue. they would later call me and state that only the rear axle was voided because it had been replaced 2 other times. i asked to have something put in writing on this and was told that chrysler does not put things like this in writing. i wanted to know what was under warrant and what was not under warranty and why. chrysler customer care took another month to come up with some type of an answer. this was after they repeatedly called me and asked what dealerships i had taken the car too because they could not find records of which dealership did the void on the warranty. i took the car to another dealership for a transmission issue and was told that the entire driveline warranty was voided. i was told that the transmission sink gears were worn because of the issues with the rear axle. my car now has 29,000 mile and needs a new rear axle and major transmission work. all this with no warranty and no proof of why there is no warranty. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 14000 miles. DODGE CHALLENGER 2011 car safety problem was reported on June 17, 2014.DODGE CHALLENGER 2011, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . wife was driving into town from her sisters house and noticed abs, traction control light and other lights begin to come on while she was driving. she began to notice a burning smell at around 40 mph just before getting into town. when she parked the car at walmart she noticed all the lights flashing like a casino and the car would not start. she called me to come get her while she was in the store so i went and got her keys, gave her my truck to drive back to her sisters, and went to her vehicle which started up when i attempted to turn it on. as i was driving the car home i noticed a winding noise coming from the engine but that was the only thing i experienced while i was driving it. the next day i had my father come by so we could take his truck with us in case it malfunctioned again. as my father was driving the car into town to an auto part store the casino light show started up and the vehicle completely died while driving at 40 mph so he had to coast it dangerously into a gas station parking lot, thankfully this didn't happen on the interstate going 70 with 18 wheelers around. i called a tow truck and had it towed to dodge dealership down the road and they said this was a common problem and the battery and alternator needed replaced which is going to cost around $900. this has angered me all day that they knew this was a common problem and no recalls have been issued on this. this could potentially injure or kill someone because it shuts down completely while driving and not everyone can control the steering wheel when the power steering goes out. this happened around 59,000 miles. we wont be buying anything from chrysler or dodge from this day forward. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 59000 miles. DODGE CHALLENGER 2011 car safety problem was reported on May 30, 2014.DODGE CHALLENGER 2011, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL . on may 30th i was heading home after a log days work when i noticed that the battery light had turned on, thinking it was just the battery needing to be recharged i kept driving. minutes after the check engine(mil), brake (parking brake?), abs, esp bas, traction control lights came on and guess what happens next!? i lose my ability to steer and brake my vehicle going 60 on the highway! luckily i lived 8min away from my place at the time and managed to get to my home with no power steering on braking ability! so i went to autozone and bought myself a battery because it was tested as a bad battery it was installed on my car & it turned on as normal, until i actually drove my car to school the following morning, set it on park & smoke started coming out of my alternator. knowing how much a alternator for my car costs i saved enough money to buy a aftermarket alternator so i went to autozone to buy one and the gentlemen told me that it gives him the option to order one but when he does they dont have any because since the car is new the only i could get is the manufactured alternator which they sell for $545 and are on back order!? really dodge really? it took me a month to set aside money for what i thought i could buy a alternator and come to find out you're the only ones that sell it, shame on you guys! i'm father a hard worker and a student at uti and you guys dont allow anyone to sell your alternators. doesnt make any sense being that you're on back order. this coudlve ended way worse when i was on the highway. if you're reading this and have the same proble, please submit a complaint as they will eventaully see a trend about this and hopefully recall these bad alternators that denso manufactures..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 63000 miles. DODGE CHALLENGER 2011 car safety problem was reported on Aug 27, 2013.DODGE CHALLENGER 2011, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM . i was driving down the highway going back home when i suddenly saw the battery light come on. after a few seconds all lights in dash board came on. then the steering wheel got stuck/locked and couldnt steer left or right. thats when i was afraid i would get into an accident. but im glad i got off the highway safely and got my car towed back home. a bad smell was coming from the engine bay and saw the alt. was pretty burnt. i took it to the nearest shop and got my alt. replaced. now its jan. 5 2015 and the battery light still comes on occasionally, i just hope the car doesnt shut down on me again on the highway where i know that next time i might not be as lucky and get into a really bad accident. i just want this problem fixed and wish dodge can take care of their issues before it gets worse..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 42000 miles. DODGE CHALLENGER 2011 car safety problem was reported on Oct 02, 2013.DODGE CHALLENGER 2011, manufactured by Chrysler Group LLC had a problem with FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM . in early october 2014 i started smelling gas fumes inside my vehicle. i took the vehicle to a local repair shop. it was determined that my fuel tank had a factory defect where the fuel pump locking tabs were molded into the tank. the leak was around the seam where attached. this is directly under the rear passenger seat on top of the fuel tank where it would have been impossible to have been hit by anything. the tank was leaking fuel on to the exhaust system at the rear of the vehicle. we were very lucky that there was no fire. i approached dodge on more than 4 occasions to recover the cost of repairs which were $1,736.05. i have been refused each time. they are aware that the tank is defective as i have sent documentation and pictures to show them. i have asked for the name of the vender who made the tank and have been refused. this is a defect in manufacturing! the tank is available for inspection. i need help to recover my cost for someone's faulty product. i have owned automobiles for 48 years and have never had to replace a fuel tank until now..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 59000 miles. DODGE CHALLENGER 2011 car safety problem was reported on Jan 15, 2015.DODGE CHALLENGER 2011, manufactured by Chrysler (FCA US LLC) had a problem with ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL . just got through an intersection instrument panel all lights started flashing then car shut down could not steer had no hazard lights nothing it is part of a chrysler recall was a very dangerous situation it was dark my car is black and i had no way of letting traffic know i was there if i had a flare in the trunk i couldn't get to it as latch is electrical and so it didn't work. i had it towed to the dealer who said he couldn't help me for weeks and no courtesy car was available to me and if it was a recall it cold not be fixed because there is no fix for the recall yet they are supposed to give me priority service after speaking with the recall center but i am to pay all charges and then try to get reimbursed from chrysler. the chrysler care center said they would pay for the new alternator but not the rental or diagnostic charge and that the shutdown could happen again, until they can come up with a fix for the alternator issue recall p60 this was a very dangerous situation because of a faulty manufactured part i don't feel i should have to incur any expense or be forced to drive an unsafe car i bought the car in good faith and i expected it to be safe. my car was not looked at today as promised hopefully tomorrow i did not receive any call back from the dealer. i think its criminal that owners of these vehicles are expected to drive them until they can get to fixing the part had i been on the freeway in 70 mph traffic i doubt i would be here to write this complaint. several cars and semi trucks came very clos to hitting my car until a state trooper could get there to provide flashing lights while waiting for the tow truck. i had no warning the car just completely shut down.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 55000 miles.
