Audi A4 2001 Service Brakes, Hydraulic Antilock Review #751437 AUDI A4 2001 car safety problem was reported on Aug 18, 2001.AUDI A4 2001, manufactured by Volkswagen of America, Inc. had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK . after sitting for a couple of hours the brakes do not kick in right away if you immediately start the car and back up. you need to push the brake pedal hard and to the floor before the car will stop. like there is an air bubble in the hydraulics. many who have driven the car have nearly backed into other cars in parking lots. fortunately there havent been pedestrians behind the car when this happened. 2 days after i bought the car i contacted prestige about the problem they said there was no sol the car still has this problem every day. you cant tell if the car is going to stop or whether it is going to roll into something. once the car runs for a bit the problem is gone. on 3/15/01 i brought the car in & explained the brake problem. the svc agent said this was not normal & they would fix it. the problem was not fixed. on 8/2/01 i brought the car to prestige again. this time i insisted they fix the problem as there had been too many close calls. on 8/3/01 prestige said again it was a known problem & there was no fix. i insisted they keep the car longer to recreate the problem.. on 8/2/01 i called audi client relations & reported the problem. audi said they would fix the problem. she assigned case #10530656. on 8/7/01 the svc manager from prestige called & said they had recreated the problem & needed to get audi involved to get the problem fixed. on friday, 8/10/01, prestige said they were still working with audi to get the problem fixed. on tuesday 8/14/01, prestige left me the following voice mail "i just had a short discussion with my supervisor (dennis). he is in contact with audi & we are trying to figure out what we might be able to dowhat were trying to do is see if audi will make any adaptations to that or if there are any other options availablehopefully we should have it resolved it by friday." on 8/17/01 prestige called & said there is no fix. i need to let the car warm up for 20 seconds before i drive it in order for the brakes to work properly..Vehicle Identification Number (VIN):WAUDC68D11A. Audi A4 2001 Electrical System Ignition Review #10004932 AUDI A4 2001 car safety problem was reported on Sept 11, 2002.AUDI A4 2001, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION . i was in the middle of an intersection when my car began to idle irregularly. i managed to get to the side of the road. i was towed to an audi dealership. three days later my car was repaired. all that i was told was that my #2 coil pack failed. i was not given any information that the other 3 would most likelt fail also. upon doing research on message boards i realized that this was an enormous problem. i called audi client relations and told them that i felt like i was driving a ticking time bomb as i could never be sure when the other coil packs were going to fail. the woman that i spoke with told me to take the car back to the audi dealership and "demand that the other 3 be replaced." when i took my car back to another dealership because of the terrible service i received at the 1st dealer, they laughed in my face. they told me that they were at a "crisis state" with the coil packs, that they did not have any to switch out for me, and that i would just have to wait for my car to die while in operation. and when that happened, that they could only replace the coil pack that failed! if this isn't gross negligence i do not know what is! additionally, i have had a cam tensioner replaced, the electronic sensor replaced, and now it appears that my steering rack is going bad. i have 38k miles with only 12k left on my warranty. i cannot believe the terrible reliability of this car on top of audi's reluctance to issue a recall campaign on the coil packs. unfortunately, it is probably going to take a person dying before anyone addresses this very serious issue..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 30000 miles. Audi A4 2001 Service Brakes, Hydraulic Power AssistAudi A4 2001 Service Brakes, Hydraulic Power Assist Review #10127401 AUDI A4 2001 car safety problem was reported on May 16, 2005.AUDI A4 2001, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST . 12/2004, purchased certified 2001 audi a4 from beechmont audi in cincinnati, ohio. car had a comprehensive 300+ point inspection performed by audi as per paperwork. 5/20/2001, vehicle taken to bluegrass audi in louisville, kentucky for a brake assist problem. several days prior to brining the vehicle in, i was in reverse leaving my garage when i found that i needed to push the brake pedal to the floor to slow and stop the vehicle. i noticed when i drove forward the problem went away. i tried backing up again and found the braking to be normal. later that afternoon i was going to lunch and when i backed up the vehicle didn't have any brake assist again and i had to push on the brake pedal with maximum force. took the vehicle to my local audi dealership and was told by the service manager that the car needed a brake flush. they performed the brake flush, but that didn't fix the problem. i returned the vehicle back to audi several days later and was informed that they found the problem with a grommet that connects two vacuum hoses at the bulkhead. they added a clamp to stop the air from escaping the system, but the next day it proved not to work. they also informed me that the brake pads and rotors were within audi limits. took the vehicle back and was informed that they needed to replace the grommet. after the item was replaced, it still has the same problem as of 7/4/2005. in summary, the vehicle has a brake assist problem in reverse after the vehicle has been sitting for a short period of time. in my un-scientific research, the brake assist fails if the vehicle has been sitting and not running for less than 2-3 hours. when this occurs, the brakes operate, but maximum brake pressure is required to stop the vehicle until the pressure builds up. this could be an isolated incident, but i thought i would pass this information along just in case there are others with the same problem. .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 68500 miles. (1) i have had 3 audi a4's that have had this same issue!!! 98', 99.5' and 01.5' a4's. below in the incident date, i stated the date when i purchased my current car... this does not include the two previous a4's i had with the exact same problem years ago. (2) the lcd screen in the instrument cluster has several pixels that die out and make the screen blurry or blank! this is extremely important for the driver to know what is wrong with the car when a problem occurs! also states in the owners manual it is for safety issues and the driver needs to be aware of these situations at all times. like i previously said, this is my third audi a4 and have had this problem with all three. it is very frustrating, especially when you have no idea what is wrong with your car because of this ongoing defect with audi. Audi A4 2001 Engine And Engine CoolingAudi A4 2001 Engine And Engine Cooling Review #10226478 AUDI A4 2001 car safety problem was reported on Apr 27, 2008.AUDI A4 2001, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING . 1. both times, car was being driven normally at around 30-40 mph when, without any warning at all, the car completely stopped from it's speed to zero mph immediately, engine dies and all power was gone from the car. all attempts to restart the car were unsuccessful. it is not a battery issue. this car is very well maintained to all manufacturer's recommendations with oem parts used for all services which are all done by certified technicians at the dealer or reputable independent shop. 2. occurred first on sunday 4/27/08 and again on 5/1/08. we are very lucky that it happened when we were on quiet subarban streets and not the highway otherwise with the car coming to a sudden and complete stop there could have been a very messy accident. imagine going from 65mph to 0mph without any warning on a rush hour freeway. please investigate this very thoroughly. 3. after first incident, car was taken to reputable audi auto repair shop that replaced an electric wire, electrical connector and ignition switch. mechanics' claim to have found power supply cable to the ecu with excessive resistance, traced the wire and found a bad connection in the harness connector. by-passed connector and now the computer is communicating ok (copied from mechanics' operations and parts report). this took the mechanics' 3 days as they said it was a very freaky, unusual and hard to find and solve electrical problem. clearly this did not work since the car again suddenly stopped 5 hours after the alleged fix. now have towed the car to audi dealership. 4. after first incident, called audi client relations u.s.a. to inform them of what we thought was a major safety risk to help make sure it did not happen to others in the future since it could lead to a very messy/fatal accident(s) but they were not at all interested since it is outside warranty. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 107280 miles. Audi A4 2001 Power Train Manual TransmissionAudi A4 2001 Power Train Manual Transmission Review #10251573 AUDI A4 2001 car safety problem was reported on Dec 06, 2008.AUDI A4 2001, manufactured by VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC had a problem with POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION . 1. we were stuck in traffic on an incline for a period of approximately 5 to 10 minutes slowly approaching the caldecott tunnel (cal. highway 24-east bound) which was backed up. i was required to push our manual clutch in an out repeatedly during the backup, but was very careful not to "ride" the clutch. 2. twice in a period of 12 months, the special "dual clutch" flywheel and clutch assembly began to catch fire. in the first instance, the car became inoperative and had to be towed. in the second instance i was able to get off the freeway to prevent further damage and danger, but the car was again inoperative. it is undoubtedly the defective flywheel design which is catching fire since the clutch in the first instance had just been replaced. 3. in both instances within the 12-month period, the entire flywheel and clutch system had to be replaced even though the clutch was still operative. the expense was approximately $3000 for each repair since audi claimed this was "driver error." my left headlight turns off after a while on my 2000 audi tt i have a 2002 audi a4 quattro 1.8t i bought the car 4 months ago and out of 25 years of my driving cars,trucks,vans i have never experienced such a sad waste of time in engineering this car is worse than the mercedes e500 wich was another garbage audi year2000,2600cc gasoline leak from ventilation under front wheel.after engine running and stop engine a blown bulp...it is a 1.5w bulp Audi Q7- Driving on highway at 70mph, going down hill and not using the gas pedal, as I was going up the hill, I put my foot on the gas and the car stalled. This happened twice on an 10 hour road trip. Can you explain the problem please. I`ve just purchased a 2007 audi a4 cabriolet fsi sline from audi and noticed only  one reverse light is working is this correct or should there be 2 i did try to change it but there doesn`t even seem to be a space for a bulb.
