Acura Mdx 2003 Unknown Or OtherAcura Mdx 2003 Unknown Or Other Review #10010986 ACURA MDX 2003 car safety problem was reported on Jan 22, 2003.ACURA MDX 2003, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with UNKNOWN OR OTHER . the mdx navigation system gives verbal and visual directions. i tend to rely on the verbal directions in the city. sometimes the system cannot determine its position because it cannot get sufficient satellite signals. it gives no verbal clue this is happening, it justs gives directions as if it knew where it was (presumably via dead reckoning). there is a visual cue, but it is very hard to see during the day. the small letters "gps" turn white when the signal is weak. this happened to me first while in boston on 22jan2003. it started giving me directions as if i were several blocks away. fortunately i knew the area well enough to know it was lost before making lots of wrong turns, but a driver relying on the gps might have found himself driving the wrong way down a one way street. i know that incorrect map data can cause the same problem and i have accepted that risk, but it is not necessary to compound that risk through poor software implementation, especially when the problem costs almost nothing to correct..0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 400 miles. Acura Mdx 2003 Air BagsAcura Mdx 2003 Air Bags Review #10039537 ACURA MDX 2003 car safety problem was reported on Sept 09, 2003.ACURA MDX 2003, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with AIR BAGS . i purchased a 2003 acura mdx in december, 2002 from gillman acura, houston texas. on the date of my complaint, the vehicle had just over 11,400 miles. on sept. 05, 2003, i hit a rock on the highway which punctured my left front tire and dented my wheel. additiionally, the front seat belts locked up and are now not functioning. additionally, the airbag light on my dash board is blinking. i took the vehicle into gillman acura on 09/08, knowing i would pay for the wheel and tire. they (gillman acura and acura corporate, torrence, ca) informed me that the seat belts must be replaced at my cost (>$1,00o). they also claim the seatbelts functioned properly via the 'tensiones' locking up the seat belts. additionally, they claim the blinking light for the passenger air bag may need to be computer controlled which also would be at my cost. this is totally contrary to gillman and acuras' written and implied warranties i received when i purchased the vehicle. they twist the warranty and an authorized representative from acura has not even inspected my vehicle. i was told by acura that they would look at it but the conclusion is final. they are not paying to get me seat belts into proper working order. thus, i have a 2003 vehicle which is unsafe to drive and neglected by the manufacturer to take responsibility for thier warranty. other dealers i have spoken with concur that gillman acura is responsible for the repair. they have all informed me that seat belts are designed to lock and subsequently retract. it is a safety hazard to have any seat belt which locks up and does not release. i am requesting nhtsa asssist me in resolving this issue. i have had nothing but trouble from acura since my purchase and they have blatantly lied to me on several occasions. additonally, the tensioners .0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 11400 miles. Acura Mdx 2003 Power Train Automatic Transmission Review #10196239 ACURA MDX 2003 car safety problem was reported on July 11, 2007.ACURA MDX 2003, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . i have a 2003 acura mdx, with ~115,00 miles on it. over the last year i have periodically experienced significant vibration during shifting of gears. in my investigation into the matter,i have found these symptoms are identical to those experienced by other mdx owners and is consistent with the many complaints of failed transmissions with the mdx model. i have taken the car to the dealer , frankel acura in cockeysville, maryland, for service on this issue on two separate occasions, but they have consistently denied that there is any problem with the transmission. however, they have offered two repairs that they said would address the problem . replaced engine mounts and flushed/refilled transmission fluid for a total cost of ~$800. their continued denial of problem with the transmission conflicts not only with my complaints, and those of many other owners, but the conclusions of two independent mechanics i had evaluate the transmission on my mdx. one of these mechanics is a transmission specialist and the other has over thirty years experience in auto repair. they both came to the same conclusion that the transmission is failing ,and one even spoke to the service and parts manager at frankel acura about my case. however, frankel acura was still denying any possible problem with the transmission. if one investigates this type of complaint on the internet, they will readily find dozens if not hundreds of similar cases, and a very consistent pattern of denial on the part of the acura dealership network. there is no doubt in my mind that this issue warrants a product recall, just like the one issued for the 2001 and 2002 mdx models. *ak.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Acura Mdx 2003 problem was reported in MONKTON, MD. Acura Mdx 2003 Engine And Engine Cooling Cooling SystemAcura Mdx 2003 Engine And Engine Cooling Cooling System Review #10277639 ACURA MDX 2003 car safety problem was reported on July 17, 2009.ACURA MDX 2003, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM . on april 7, 2009 took my 2003 acura mdx into local dealer for it's 60,000 mile service (odometer read 63,438). no problems brought to my attention. june 16, 2009 (odometer 67,608) a/c stops working. pay over $1300 to have a/c compressor, clutch, stator & hi pressure hose replaced. get car back on june 18, 2009. july 1, 2009 check engine light comes on (odometer 68,219). am told that car needs a "valve realignment" - all gaskets and spark plug seals replaced ($600). get car back on july 2, 2009. july 3, 2009 burning smell coming through a/c vents. am told that it's residue from v/c gaskets from the valve realignment job- supposedly residue removed. get car back july 6, 2009. july 17, 2009 notice oil in front passenger side wheel well. pop hood, notice radiator overflow container is overflowing, radiator is very mobile and overflow container is black at the bottom. have car towed to dealership. am told that the radiator cracked internally and that the coolant and transmission fluid were mixing together - therefore have to flush the transmission and replace radiator for another $900. this just didn't feel right to me. started researching and am being told that these are not "normal" repairs on this model for so few miles on it and that the burning smell was most likely the mixing of the coolant and transmission oil not residue from the valve realignment. dealership isn't accepting responsibility. acura customer services is saying there's nothing they can do either because the dealership has followed all procedures. i really feel like they are trying to covering up a defect or mechanic error . *tr.Mileage was 68000 miles. Acura Mdx 2003 Power Train Automatic TransmissionAcura Mdx 2003 Power Train Automatic Transmission Review #10296341 ACURA MDX 2003 car safety problem was reported on Nov 26, 2009.ACURA MDX 2003, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . driving down i78 on thanksgiving and all of the sudden the car stopped responding. engine was revving but car wasn't accelerating commensurate with the engine. the transmission was slipping. i navigated my way towards the right across a couple of lanes of traffic and made my way to the exit. got off the interstate and the check engine light came on and the car completely stopped responding. i pulled over and could not move at all - the transmission was gone. called aaa and had the car towed. i starting researching this and discovered that this was a well known issue for acura mdx's of the 2003 vintage. i eventually had the car towed to clinton acura and of course they told me i needed a new transmission for $4000. i complained and asked if there was anything they could do and they said no. i told them to wait and that i was going to call acura customer care. i did so and asked them to help defray the cost of the new transmission since it was apparent that they had a deficiency. they took the complaint and request but suggested i needed to make the same request of the dealership. they said the dealer would consult with their local acura field rep to make a decision. i did as they suggested and about 3 hours later they called me back and said my request was denied. essentially the vehicle was out of warranty so it was my responsibility. i told them i was very disappointed but i had them do the work. i also called back acura customer care and told them what happened. further, i told them i would never purchase another acura product. *tr.Mileage was 110445 miles. Acura Mdx 2003 Power Train Automatic TransmissionAcura Mdx 2003 Power Train Automatic Transmission Review #10373266 ACURA MDX 2003 car safety problem was reported on Dec 25, 2010.ACURA MDX 2003, manufactured by HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) had a problem with POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION . i have a 2003 acura mdx with 108k miles as of dec 29, 2010. two years ago around 80k miles, while my wife was driving with our kid, suddenly the engine lost power on highway 95. she had to rev up to 6000 rpm to keep the speed at 30 mph. acura dealer checked the transmission and said they found metallic particles in the transmission fluid, and the fluid was charred. they also said gear was slightly damaged, but told me to replace transmission fluid very frequently (more than recommendation). no one told me 2003 mdx has faulty transmission system. after 1 year at around 90k miles i changed the transmission fluid again. now, three days ago, same transmission problem. even at 25 mph, the rpm goes suddenly to 5000 rpm at same acceleration pressure level. i checked the transmission fluid immediately. the transmission fluid level is perfectly fine. but fluid is black and charred particles, possibly metallic. not supposed to happen for $40k luxury suv at 80k miles and 108k miles. dropped my car at local acura dealer hoping acura can replace transmission at their own cost. i already spent $1000 first time two years ago. then i spend over $600 for 90k miles regular maintenance that included transmission fluid service. i am not spending again on the same stupid faulty transmission that acura should have notified all its customers in the first place. if they don't fix it at their own cost, i will never buy or recommend acura to anyone. very very disappointed with acura. *tr.Mileage was 80000 miles. Acura Mdx 2003 Power TrainAcura Mdx 2003 Power Train Review #10542904 ACURA MDX 2003 car safety problem was reported on Sept 10, 2013.ACURA MDX 2003, manufactured by Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) had a problem with POWER TRAIN . when i first purchased my mdx (used 32k miles) i had an issue with shuddering between 35-45 and it would feel like it wouldn't go. it took until my car was at 55k miles for a service tech to finally here the problem and diagnose it correctly. i had to replace the torque converter and transmission. then again at 124k miles i heard the exact same noise!! i took the car back to acura and was told they could not duplicate the noise ...of course they couldn't. i said i had this problem before, you replaced my transmission, you know this is a defect of acura/honda. they insisted it wasn't the problem but in fact i needed a catalytic converter. so, i replaced the catalytic converter at $1,100.00 and drove off the lot with same shudder ( it represented itself within the month)!! they said i have to bring back and drive with a tech. i have yet to get it back there because of my work schedule their lack of accommodations for saturdays. now i am at 160k and am trying to get the car back in and they are acting like they have no idea what could possibly be wrong. this is extremely frustrating! out of warranty. working on possibly a 3rd transmission...it is crazy and unsafe! i bought an acura because of the quality reputation they have. i am very disappointed. i have even called honda and they are useless. if you are not constantly buying a new honda product and servicing them at the ridiculous prices they do not find you a loyal customer therefore do not want to help you!!! please make them own their defaults!! *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 124000 miles. Acura Mdx 2003 Power TrainAcura Mdx 2003 Power Train Review #10561172 ACURA MDX 2003 car safety problem was reported on Aug 15, 2013.ACURA MDX 2003, manufactured by Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) had a problem with POWER TRAIN . when driving my 2003 acura mdx (suv), last fall, the transmission began to slip out of gear at low speeds. it would be in 3rd gear as i would slow to make a turn or enter a parking area. when i finished a turn and began to accelerate, the car was no longer in gear and the engine just revs as if it was in neutral. in traffic, i would have to bring the mdx to a complete stop (rpm to zero) and then the transmission would re-engage and move forward again. soon, i was having to put the car in a lower gear to get it to move forward and each time the car decelerates, the transmission slips. in moving traffic, having to make a complete stop in the middle of a street or when entering the highway, etc., is dangerous. i have stopped driving the car because i cannot trust it to keep moving in regular traffic. i was not aware of the torque converter bulletin / recall on the car (i am second owner), even though i have kept up with scheduled maintenance. i contacted acura (hoy fox acura, el paso, tx) for assistance, but they were dismissive when they discovered i did not purchase my acura from them. acura north america customer relations has also been contacted, and are telling me the vehicle is out of warranty (it currently has 200,000 miles, but is no longer safe to drive due to the transmission failure). i have reviewed and researched a huge amount of 2003 mdx transmission failures from 45k miles to 200,000 miles (my issue began at about 150,000 miles). documentation online reflects that acura mdx has been plagued with transmission problems. there is also literature and documentation linking transmission failure to the torque converter issues in this model. this is my first acura, and i do like it enough to purchase another one. not sure i will be that "loyal", though, after this situation. many owners suggest filing a complaint with nhtsa. *tr.0 person(s) were injured. 0 person(s) died.Mileage was 150000 miles. 05 Acura RL reset Address Book, Calendar, and Go Home gray out. Close the door, use remote and press both lock and unlock at the same time until you see red light on the remote blink.
